Default bad clutch? or something else?

i have 97 civic ex coupe and the thing is slow as ****....when I really wanna floor it, it doesn't feel like it wants to give out power after like 3500 rmps, so i have no choice but to shift and drive like a grandma lol...so basically after like 3500rpms it feels like i'm just revving it and it's not going anywhere in every gear... what could it be if it's not the clutch? the kids grandma i bought it from said he sucked at driving manual that's why she made him sell it lol, so maybe the clutch is a high possibility?

does it rev high when you floor it (rev but not go in gear)? or your engine stops putting out after 3500?

definitely not the clutch, 99.99999999% sure the clutch isn't making you do this. try changing your distributer to another known good one.

do you have a tach? If so does the rpm go up while the car goes no where?

yea it has a tach... when i floor it, the rmps move all the way to redline like normal, the car just stops giving out power at like 3500rms in every gear...**** i mean I don't think I should be complainting i paid 1200 for the thing, and all I had to do is put a new axle on it to get it running, but still you know, its always good to find out whats not working right

solution- buy a d16 vtec. or a b16 or a anythign you want.

but if grandma said he sucked at driving clutch i'm sure since he hung out with the wrong people he screwed everything in that car up. so start with the clutch, go on to find out what else he raped in that thing.

It's a used car. Go ahead and replace all the maintenance stuff. Plugs & plug wires, fuel filter, dizzy cap & rotor, etc etc. See if it takes care of the problem. Also open the ecu up and see if it's been chipped. He might be running one of those generic POS eGay chips. Those suck and will cause weird issues.
