from what ive been hearing around the forums by looking at posts every1 says the LS Vtec is good, personally this is just me i would go for a B16A from JDM http://www.jdmracingmotors.com/produ...products_id=36, or the JDM OBD2 http://www.jdmenginescorp.com/engine...d2-engine-swap

what you want is a gsr,itr block with a set of ls crank and rods to acheive a 1.9lt. as for the reason why, it ables you to use the oil passage the gsr block has rather than some stupid plumbing you use for sinks(vtec kit), it ables you to use the gsr oil enjectors(youll need to bend them though), it ables you to use the gsr block girdle(more stability for high revs),it ables you to use the oil cooler the gsr comes with and finally you get all that reliability and a 1.9lt engine.

This was some other guys idea but it does make alot of sense and seems to be a much better way of increasing dissplacement for cheaper. the things you need is

gsr-itr block,ls crank and rods,rs 82mm itr pistons and a rebuild to get a massive amount of hp,reliability,a true b-vtec and all with no mileage!

hrmmm... I would go with a built b20 block.. why? more torque and you get 2.0 liters to haul ***! both motors are great if you build it properly.. remember that a b20 is just a bored out ls block.. ls block = 81mm while b20 block = 84mm.. this may be the reason why they say the b20 has thin cylinder walls. Just don't beat the hell out of the motor too much otherwise sleeve it.

If you're only using it as an NA platform, the B20 may be a better choice for you. It has the same stroke as the LS but an 84mm bore (vs the LS's 81mm). The cylinder walls from cylinder-to-cylinder are weaker but since you're not looking for crazy power, i wouldn't consider that much of a problem. If you wanted more specific input on this topic, check out the All Motor forum. I'm sure this type of question pops up a lot around there...

both motors are great but b20 vtec will yield more power due to the increased displacement. as long as the motor is built correctly with the right parts.
