b20 vtec build... fit a $7k budget?
how much would it run me to build a b20 vtec? im thinking b20 block, type r head, jdm type r 4.785 tranny, and other parts.
around how much would the whole setup cost? do you think it would fit a 7k budget?
i would want to make it have 11:1 compression so a block guard would be needed. what is the best crank to use to make it have the best rod stroke ratio to rev high?

I would think it would be less if you buy parts individually. Unless you are stuffing aftermarket parts in the block and factoring in a quality header/etc, I think you could do it for less.

listen up, go to a junk yard and find a Honda CRV, hit in the rear, like totaled in the rear, tell em you will drop the block take the block, at the most 200$, then go online and find a JDM B18c1 (GSR) head for about 300$, put it together with the JDM Type R tranny wit the LSD and the 4.1 and youll be set total estimate if done right, no more that 3gs!

Wow, I want to go to the junkyards you go to? All of them around here don't part out engines, just sell them complete.

You need to talk to a good shop and tell them you want a B20VTEC, 7k is easily enough to build a badass motor that will make real good power. If you are in SoCal pm me and I will refer you to the place that did my LS/VTEC, they worked with my budget and I am real happy with the results. If not try to look around for a good shop in the area - best way is to go to the local drag strip and talk to anyone running 13 second all motor street cars, they should know a good place to get work done at...

the build is not that hard, it doesn't take a real genious to do. As long as you are not planning on changing the pistons on it (get b20z1 which will give you 10:1 compression). Just oil pump, arp rod bolts, arp head bolts, and take for oil. that's all you really need to do.
