b20 questions & pics of the del Sol
Looking like i'm finally going to go threw on this b20.
It's going in a 97 del sol S. (d16y7)
I posted this before in the hybrid forum, wasn't much help.
Soo.. I'm curious on a couple things.
1. What exact mounts will I need?
2. What ECU should I use? OBD2 p75?
3. Will i need a new intermediate shaft, or is the current DX one fine?
4. Do i need to use "del Sol Vtec" specific axles?
I hope these are the last of my questions. Im just trying to figure out exactly what i need, so i can add it to the long list.
And heres a couple pics of the del Sol. Don't think i've really posted pics of the car in here before. Tell me what you think.

Re: b20 questions & pics of the del Sol (mooseknuckle)
You'll need either the 94+ Integra, 99-00 Civic Si or the Del Sol VTEC DOHC engine mounts. The D series engine mounts will not work. You can use the OBD2 ecu but it'll cause more headaches so stick with the OBD1 B series ECU. If staying with B20 motor then use LS or B20 ECU, switch over to the B series VTEC ecu if you do the LS/VTEC motor swap. Your del sol axles and intermeidate shaft will not work unless it's the Del Sol VTEC that came with the B16A motor, the D series axles are also smaller in diameter so more easier to snap so you'll need axles from a 94-00 Integra, Del SOl VTEC DOHC or 99-00 Civic Si, the axles from a 1992-1993 Integra GSR may work as well.

you will need to get a rear mount bracket, b series passenger motor mount (the one that goes on the chassis), thats about it for mounts. o yea need a b series engine mount(driver side).

Re: b20 questions & pics of the del Sol (jbell)
id be a much better bang for the buck if u just bought a sohc turbo kit for it. no need to swap a motor just cause its a sohc. its got alot of potential.
i dont know if the y7 is a vtec motor or not, but i believe it is.
this right here is your basic $1300 kit without an intercooler. with this alone your going to be faster than most basic b20set ups.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33742
or u could go all out and get a drag kit like this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33742
or anything inbetween. now i dont know what obd the y7 is. but if its obd 1. then u would buy the kit for the 92-95ex/si. if its obd2 than u would buy the 96-00 ex kit. there not that much different in price.
i just think its a much better bang for the buck. and u get to play with more things. its just more fun. look into it.
del sol turbo sounds pretty fun!

you also need a b series driver side mount bracket .
The one that bolts in underneath the timing belt cover.
This is if your are going to do just a b20 non vtec though...

Arent the B20's non vtec??? If they are, which i think so, then swap on a B16 vtec head. more power and it's pretty much like the ls/vtec thing. But didnt someone state this already, damn i hate it when im a few days late

Re: b20 questions & pics of the del Sol (dohcdelsol)
Thanks for the help. I know exactly what I need now.
I got into an accident. Got the fogs and a 95 bumper. I like the 93-95 front better.
But as for the "put a vtec head on it, it like the LS vtec thing" im highly aware of what b20vtec is. Plus u didn't answer my question, you simply tried to school me on that "lsvtec thing"; a topic you obviously know nothing about.
The sohc turbo, no thanks. Ive been looking into this for months now. FI isnt something i want right now. I'm not concerned with what setup is faster. Thanks for looking out. But in the long run its gunna be a costly investment either way.

I guess you haven't see a del sol before. Still living under that rock?

Re: b20 questions & pics of the del Sol (mooseknuckle)
I know you will need to get the Shift linkage for a Del Sol VTEC because the B series linkage is bent different don't know if you knew that or not.
You say your car is a 97'? did you get the bumper and aux lights from a 93-95?

1. What exact mounts will I need? MOUNTS you can use your del sol MOUNTs....brackets now you will need rear del sol dohc bracket, front BSERIES AC BRAcKET, and front tranny bracket....
2. What ECU should I use? OBD2 p75? if the b20 is just a plane b20 then use a 97 dx ecu....don't know the code
3. Will i need a new intermediate shaft, or is the current DX one fine? dx does not have im shaft....you will need bseries im shaft or half shaft
4. Do i need to use "del Sol Vtec" specific axles? NO....any BSERIES 94-01 will work

ya dude i had no clue, i never looked into the y7 so i had no clue. i know the z6 and y8 are so really didnt know. either way boosting the D would be his best option i think.
or well, best bang for the buck that is. and id be faster than his b20 cause im pretty sure his b20 would be pretty basic.

Re: b20 questions & pics of the del Sol (mugensport9)
no, the y7 is not vtec, and i dont see why he would have to change the mounts, arent all del sols based off the EG and DC chassis? therefore he wouldnt need to change them. i think its only EK's that need changing, and thats not an EK. i could be wrong..

things you need: 94-01 integra drivers side mount, rear tranny mount, both vibration mounts, your d series pass. side mount will work. 94-01 integra or 99-00 si or del sol b16 axles and midshaft. same for shift linkage. i would reccomend running an obd1 pr4 with the obd2-obd1 jumper harness. hope im not too late on this.
