Are B18C5's over rated?
I was thinking about ripping out my JDM b16a for a B18C5 this summer instead of buying the greddy turbo kit. Is it worth it? K20 would be the stuff, but thats too much money right now... Thanx
Also where would one find a Type R motor now a days?

I wont say over rated but if you were going to go turbo i wouldnt use the C5. If you want to go turbo stick with the B16. If you want to go all motor get the C5

yeah it's all prefrence and budget. the c5 is a better motor hands down. actually... i'd rather have a b16b with a c5 crank and rods

Tough question.
Its all what you want it for...I dropped in an ITR motor last year and really like it. Sometimes I wish it had MORE power but really when are you gonna use it?
The cars a heavy pig and still runs high 13's stock. I wanted something just for autox but it also had to be super reliable as I travel prob. 5000-7000 miles going to autox events a year. And a couple thousand more when I go on vacation.
Although this year Im doing a few things to the motor to squeeze out a couple more ponys.
Good Luck with your choice.

hmmm, im thinking maybe its worth it. My G/F is going away to school and its going to be like 2 1/2 hours away and I need a reliable car, but I also want to upgrade. A turbo'd car might now be aas reliable. Keep 'em comming because im really enjoying the feed back.
Hey all you ITR engine guys, CTR Vs. ITR? Any huge differences?

the C5 is a great platform for an NA buildup...but a turbo'd B16 is going to be much faster.just depends on what you want.i'd go turbo myself.

I agree... I mean think about it.. stock motor or turbo motor.. stock motor doesn't seem like a likely choice. what are your plans later though if you get the C5?

well, I'd like to build either engine up over time... I have a venom kit staring me in the face right now looking for an owner, but I'm in the pre-stages of making a pretty decent size move with the car. I was "turbo all the way" until a couple of weeks ago, maybe its cold feet... either engine will be built up, its just a matter of which engine and when.

hmmm, well I wouldn't be keeping the b16, if I decided on swapping again I would sell it (hopefully). I don't know....AAAAAHHHHHHHHH lol, don't mind me. I'm doing searches for times on both engines and check this out. I've read some people with c5's hitting mid 13's to 14's and in b16's hitting low 13's to up to 15's, all say they have I/H/E... I hit a 15.1 (granted it was in the 90's that day and humid) with my b16 with exhaust and hmmm, an intake. Still running stock rims with skinny tires but damn!!! Confusion owns me!!
