I know of 2 del sols that have B18C5's in the NW. One is in Seattle and the other is in Portland. I'm sure that there are others though.

For times, I think most people figured it to be about the same as the B18C5 Civics at high 13's.

it is possible and its the same as swapping into a 92-95 hatch or coupe or 4 door, only difference is that you hafta get the shift linkage from a VTEC del sol

Yes, but why waist the money on that, Get a h22 in the del sol and you can spank C5's all day long.

ONLY 300lbs? That's like hauling a fat chick in your Civic everywhere you go... nothing to be proud of.

According to edmunds.com:

Si HB: 2390#
EX 2 dr: 2443#
EX 4 dr: 2522#
del Sol Si: 2414#

Very comparable in my mind.

Maybe a Del Sol VTEC is 300lbs heavier than a hatch, but it already has a b-series, etc. In my opinion, swap into what ever car you want...I would never let 200lbs keep me from getting the car i wanted, theres always ways around it...

True, comparable to heavy *** Si hatches (like mine), but CX/VX and even DX hatches have a pretty big advantage in the weight dept

Only when you compare the VTEC model del Sols, which already have the B series engine.......look at a Civic DX hatch compared to a del Sol S......OR weigh a Civic hatch with swap to a del Sol VTEC.....

In the end, there's a slight (<100lb ?) difference, a lot of which can be attributed to removable items, like power steering, etc, etc. But I'll take the weight penalty for the style of the del Sol, which I prefer. If I wanted a track only EG/EH, I'd take a Civic CX hatch any day, but that's not why I bought the car.

I guess it's just personal opinion. If I started over again, and was going to be competitive, I'd start with the lightest chasis, to make the most of my mods. 100 lbs is quite a bit in my opinion

I agree with you if thats what you intend to do with the car, Competitive racing...but for an everyday driven street car, i don't think you should let 100lbs sway you from getting the car you like best

My del sol v-tec weighs slightly under 2400lbs with abs, ps, and a/c. People always talk about how heavy del sol's are but I really don't think there is a very big weight difference, especially when you consider it already has a b16.

Try 2600lbs. for a stock 00-01 Type R, not 2800lbs.

For reference the stock weight of a 1992-193 CX/VX is only 2094lbs.

As far as the original topic goes, you know the one where the guy already has a Del Sol and is asking about a swap, the swap will go just like it would into any 1992-1995 Civic hatch, coupe, or 4-door except for the shift linkage as someone already stated.

What year is this Del Sol? It might make a small difference in wiring if it is a 1996-1997 Del Sol.
