When I was getting my b20vtec put together, the b16 head was 400, the gsr was 800, and the type r was around 1200

if you get anything but GSR head, you'll lose compression unless you upgrade your pistons to ITR or something that is domed instead of flat like the gsr's.

Do pistons while you are at it. This will influence which head you get (compression)

I have paid $550 for a 96 itr head and $650 for a 2001 itr head, no cams or anything, just valvetrain.

That's still pretty cheap. I paid 1250 for a brand new 2001 head with EVERYTHING.

Re: b18c1 with si head/ITR head.disscussion your thoughts (Apex i ITR)
stick with the GSR head.
Skunk2 manifold, ctr cams, jdm itr pistons, mile port and polish...that'll be a good thing.

if you get a R head then you really dont have to do anything. a gsr head will give you about .3 more on your compression but i would build it. a si will lower the compression of the gsr but youll have the flow like an R but needs to be built. im building a all mtr gsr with a si head only because its close to a R but better if it fully built the head. im only spending 1800 whitch includes the head and fully building it with skunk2 products.
