B18C1 or B20VTEC
Me again! One more opinion/question. I have decided not to go with an LSVTEC setup. But now it is a choice between the B20VTEC and the B18C1. I'm somewhat nervous going with a Frankstein setup, maybe I either need reassurance or opinions. COST DIFFERENCES ASIDE.
Which engine truly performs better. I'm not looking for "Oh I race and beat GSRs all the time with my B20" I'm looking for good facts and justifiable opinions. This is a big decision, and I want to make a good one.
Thanks everyone!

Re: B18C1 or B20VTEC (Spade)
I'm saying fresh out of the box (or Frankstein shop). No extra internal mods (with the exception of a B16 head on the B20 block), i.e. pistons, cams, rods, crank, etc.. Which engine is better?

Re: B18C1 or B20VTEC (95cx)
So you're NOT planning on building the bottomend?
If your not planning to build the bottom end--B18C1
If you are building the bottom end (correctly)--CRVtec
"By correctly I mean pistons, rods, etc." If you are not going to do it correctly, then don't do it. Go B18C1 instead.
hope that helps
PS. the b18C1 is much simpler a swap IMO

Staying with stock interals!!!
B18C1.
The 9:1 compression of the B20 and the lack of strengh suck. Redline is 7200.

If you're not gonna build it, don't go with B20. If you want an all around reliable daily driver, then you should definitely go with the B18C1...

Re: B18C1 or B20VTEC (DX Generation)
B18c1 all the way dude...i love mine in my 95 hatch.
If you are gonna do anything internally and are going to the machine shop and dropping a dime then go B20/Vtec...
Good luck in whatever you choose!

Re: B18C1 or B20VTEC (Guardson3r3)
I have been researching it for the past 4 months. Finally decided I don't have the budget to do the B20 Rebuild.
B18C1 is nice for the simple fact there is no doubt that it is legal and there are "legal" turbo kits for it.

it depends on if you gonna force induction or stay N/A...........b20 vtec is not recommended for force induction....and the b20 vtec is not a reliable motor....i know a ocuple people with them or who had them...and they always having some type of problems.....i say you go with the b18c1 its more reliable and its good to go N/A or FI
