My plan is N/A.
I searched but a lot of the discussion focused on mods etc. I plan this as a daily driver with slight mods such as intake, suspension.

If you want N/a then b16 shouldn't be your choice. It'll be more expensive and yeild less results than any higher displacement B swap.

Having bolt on's I wouldn't really consider it an "n/a build."

Intake and exhaust aren't going to get you much with these small motors, an exhaust manifold and a good intake filter will give you the best results as far as those go.

Im thinking for the price that the 2 motors you listed shouldnt even be considered if you are looking for basic bolt ons and using it as a DD. Pick up a B18b for 500-1k and save yourself the trouble of spending 2.5-3.5k for a B16 or B18c and another 1k for I/H/E.

The motor itself is cheap, but then you have to factor is the possibility of H2B (1.1k) and then all the other components and minor fab work. You will end up spending around 3-3.5k.

OP, if you are dead set on those two choices I would spend the extra $$ for the B18c. But if you are looking for something cheaper and still fun to drive see below

Depending on your driving needs you can go for the shorter geared B16 tranny or a slightly higher geared GSR.

Though it is cheap for the gains you get. Let's not make this another motor vs motor thread.

I'm surprised this one hasn't been locked.

Very true on both statements. Im honestly sick and tired of people making these threads without any sort of info as to how much they have/want to spend, what its going to be used for and their whp dreams. Even if they had the answers to the 3 questions they could have searched and found their answer. Most of the people that want swaps are just using the car for DD and its really all preference then. I really wish H2B was around 6 years ago when i forked over a butt load of cash for a JDM B18c.

OP... pretty much just purchase whichever you can afford

The "Best" swap for you money, is what you have the budget for. And if I may ask what is it? a B16B swap is very expensive unless you have connections for the swap along with labor or have a lot of $$ in general. The $$ for the B16B swap, could be easily had for a jdm itr or jdm gsr swap and have bigger displacement at the same time. Both will be easy to swap in an EK, just need the proper mounts, tools, and an experience or professional mechanic to do the job.

wow its not loocked yet, ok here i go then:

it all depends how much you can find each motor for, i got my b16b for 2500 obviously at that price its the better choice since most gsr's with lsd go for 3000+ in my area. if it was vice versa though i would have got the gsr. both are great motors.

dd just go with a jdm b16 170hp with the lsd it will be all you need and or want b16b you really can't tell much difference when driving it. its only 15 hp more. but if you want to spend more money be the b18c 180hp and more tq but again get the lsd if you can.

if you are planning on doing some basic bolt-on mods, then go for b18c1.

keep in mind that b16b and b18c5 is basically the same engine. just the displacement was lowered.

They didn't lower the displacement on anything, you can't do that. How are you going to lose .2 liters of displacement?

The blocks aren't the same. The rod/stroke ratio isn't the same, the rod lengths isn't the same.

Like I said, two totally differen't motors.

the displacement difference is in the r/s difference they are very close to the same bottom end. My understanding is that the crank and rods are different thats is why the .2 displacement difference. but if im wrong please say so and also tell me why. also i have driven a stock b16b and a jdm b16 with a header and skunk 2 intake. They feel very much the same.

and ek forever guy you are comparing the b18c5 and b16b other are the type Rs. the first post was for b18c1 so it would be better to post b18c1 specs and b16b. but this post will be lock if we go to much in to that and the person that posted can look that stuff you anyways. More or less its what you want for and engine and your style. just like most of these post end like ... its what you want man.
