b18c vs turbo-ed minime
what would win, considering its in an EK hatch? I have the minime and was going to turbo it with some hondata but the raw poer of the b18c entices me. Which is better? What would you choose? Take into account if im goin with mini me its getting the whole new rods/pistons combo for high boost.
Thanks
Dan

Re: b18c vs turbo-ed minime (turbotime)
The size of the turbo and how much boost depends on if a mini-me would beat a B18C1. What bolt ons does the GSR contain?
I'd go for the GSR because it is more reliable and cheaper than the SOHC+turbo+Hondata+tuning+internals.

Re: b18c vs turbo-ed minime (lazy bum shaughn)
i dont think he was talkin bout a gsr motor.
i would go with the mini me turbo setup
sure the b18c has some power but the mini me turbo could easily take
a b18c with the right stuff and if it blows up for some odd reason can buy another one
for 5 bucks and put it back in ur car on you lunch break
and also its alway fun to see a D beat a B j/p for all you b owners

b18c > turbo mini-me
plug-n-play > tracking down parts, fabbing, tuning
honda reliability > turbo reliability
OEM engine management > aftermarket FPR, ECU, Injectors etc etc
potential of a B > potential of a D
red dohc valve cover > black soch valve cover
B motor/tranny/axle strenght > D motor/axle/tranny strenght
should i go on or do you not get it?

a turbed mini-me would smoke a gsr anyday .....and as fas reliability, it all depends on the tuning ......

LOL
I have read alot of crap on HT but this has to be the biggest pile of crap I have read.
plug-n-play > tracking down parts, fabbing, tuning yeah if you keep it stock. Who spends that much on a motor to keep it stock. If you get anything other than I/H?E, you will need to tune it so moot point. Not to mention you can buy pre-built turbo setups. I ran into very few problems when I went customw ith my turbo. The first time it smooth as silk since I bought a greddy pre-fabbed kit.
honda reliability > turbo reliability - I guess those guys who have been goign 20,000 plus miles on turbo setups have unreliable cars. My turbo setup never once failed me.
OEM engine management > aftermarket FPR, ECU, Injectors etc etc - goes back to my first point. If you decide to get anythign other than I/H/E, you will need to tune
potential of a B > potential of a D - not a bad point but depending on your goals, it might be cheaper to go with the D vs the B. Not to mention if you blow it, A B18C block WILL cost more than a D
red dohc valve cover > black soch valve cover I guess
B motor/tranny/axle strenght > D motor/axle/tranny strenght I cant speak on B series, but I did all kinds of clutch dumps and hard shifts and whatever other crap to my HX (which is probalby the SHITTIEST D tranny) and my **** still shifts smooth as butter
