Default b18c into si hatch, tach off by 1500 or more rpm why??

i swapped shells with my freind, my 94 integra body for his 92si, now that the gsr motor is in the hatch, the tach is about 1500 rpm behind, instead of vtec at 5800~5900ish, its at 4500 or so in the si's cluster. i swapped my computer, so i know its not that.

ADDED: this is tuned on crome, far from a stock motor(portflow headwork, rods, pistons, cams, valvetrain, itr lsd tranny), vtec is set at 5850, and it was working just fine 2 days previously(and all year previously) in the integra shell. i know the mph is correct (timed a mile) and vtec is still coming when it should, just the si's factory tach is lagging behind about 1500 to 1900 rpm

its killing me, i dont know what it is.... could it be where there was a vafc and it was removed and a bad connection is reading lower to the cluster?

UPDATE:

FIXED...same issue i had in my 94 db8 gsr.
in the gsr..... i put a 95 cluster, tach was off by 500 rpm, bought another 94(same exact year as car) and it fixed it.

i took a same exact year si cluster and put in, now its perfect, vtec is exacty right on, 60 mph in 5th, right at 3k

all is good now

uhh... VTEC in a GSR is at 4400 rpm. IAB's hit at 5700 RPM. did you wire the IAB's correctly? you don't really feel VTEC hit in a GSR, its' the IAB's that you hear roaring...

What does a vehicle speed sensor do to change your VTEC? and what does a VAFC have to do with it? What ECU are you using? Should still be a P72 or some sort...

Cluster gets its readings from Dizzy directly for Tach readings, I think you are just unsure about your motor and that it is working without IAB functionality.

^^^ Werd dude. Everything in your car is working normal. You are just overestimating the power of VTEC.

no, none of the above, i and a freind built this motor a year ago, its a 11:1,81.5mm sk2 st2 cams,sk2 mani, 74mm throttel body, 290cc injectors, i tuned it myself on crome and a tech edge wideband, vtec is at 5850, redline at 9500.

i know vtec is coming on at 5850, it did 2 days ago while still in my integra, now its in the hatch.

and instead of 3k rpm at about 63mph it only shows about 18 to 1900 now

mph is correct however (took right at 60 sec's at 60 mph to go 1 mile)

ok now we're talkin, descriptive!

but yeah RPM is connected to Dizzy readings - possible you have a short or a bad cluster

any reason you picked up a EG Si body? if u were lookin for light, CX!

Probably cause that's what his buddy had.

Even not, Si has black dash, better brakes, ect.ect. I wouldn't trade a DC Teg shell for a base model EG ever. Then you get stuck with baby brakes, and blue dash, no tach....yeah real nice.

I'm going to go with the tach in the cluster as your problem, but it could be where the VAFC taps into your tach signal wire also. What does your datalogger show your RPM's at??
