b18b1 in a 99 EM1 questions
hey so my b16a2 block is bad now due to a loose sumtin in the block...so i plan on throwing a 99 OBD2A LS engine...i read around and it says it doesnt have a knock sensor and what else doe sit not have compared to my B16A2....and im assuming i have to get a obd2b to obd2a harness with obd2a LS ECU to run the b18b1 correctly..or would my b16a2 ecu work with it running my harness? thanks guys..

You need an LS ecu if running an LS, or a chipped ecu, but they are cheap, so why bother. You can retain your stock harness and not use all the plugs.
You will hurt the value of that car going with a non vtec engine. And if you do, why not just go B20Z...it makes more power!

no! If all honda engines used the same computer, honda would make only one, they don't!
why??? hmmm, let's see......
- different compression
- different size of engine
- no vtec
- different power bands...meaning different spark and fuel curves
I mean, think about it man

Go with what Deetz is saying man... He helped me out alot on my swap... Whether you stay vtec or non-v is on you.
Although going non-v will hurt the value of your car, there's always so many possibilties and potential with any b-series engines.
Good luck with your swap man !
