B16A2 - Coolant fluid - Do they mix?
Hi freaks :-)
My Del Sol needs a new thermostat. I plan to drain the coolant fluid, fix the new thermostat and fill with new Honda coolant.
The current fluid in the circuit is yellow. The new Honda premixed coolant fluid is blue. I can't find any data on the old or new stuff online - Are they the same?
If they're not compatible what do I do then? Should I drain the yellow stuff, fill with pure water and let it circulate a few times till the fan kicks in 2 times, drain, and finally fill with new blue stuff - Or just drain the yellow and refill with the blue?

Other than GM Dexcool coolant is generally compatible, although it wouldn't hurt to flush the system out with plain water and then replace all the coolant with Honda blue stuff.

They're fine to mix, but drain the block and radiator first. Once the engine has cooled, put the heater blend on full hot. Then undo the block drain plug (19mm head, front of the block, behind the exhaust manifold/header. Then the radiator also. That gets almost all the coolant out.
Don't use anything except distilled water to flush or fill. Drinking water is not the same as distilled, BTW.

All coolants are generally mixable with one another EXCEPT for dex cool(Orange).
Your best bet is to go to local auto parts and get a jug of full strength universal coolant. It can be used with all makes models and colors.

Of course mix the coolant 50/50 with distilled water.
For got to add that in.
why buy a gallon with half antifreeze when you can get a gallon of 100% for basically the same price.
