B16a2-----b18c1/c5
ok.. i have a b16a2 with b16b pistons an b16b head and b16b trans.... can i pu t a b18b1 b18c1 or b19c5 crank in it to make it a 1.8L and more like a c1/c5

u can not make it into a 1.8 without swapin a b18c5 block, or a b20 block to make it a 2.0.. but along with either one of these blocks you need blocks original crank as well hope that helps.. i have a b16a2 with ctr cams.. i want to swap the block with a b20 block or a 18c5 block ... dont know which to do!

Re: (sinanovicha)
ok... so i will need a c5 botom end to make it a 1.8l i hear that you could switch the cranks out and change you displacment
#7
i highly doubt that bro.. you can not fit the b18c5 crank onto the 16a2 block.. i know that for a fact.. im pretty sure u can not.. so yes u would need a bottom end to change your displacment

EG shell, JDM b16a w/CTR cams & t/b adds signifigantly more power, 10-15 more HP than stock GSR. . . but still about 10-15 less LBS/TQ
and thats stock no intake or exaust on my B16A. . .
JDM B16a 170HP
JDM B16b 185HP

b18's are off da hook, but b16's are nothing to scoff at. . . im thinking next a thin B16b head gasket to bump compression 10.4(stock b16a) to 10.6. . . as a fully stock b16b has 10.8c/r, but i dont have the pistons . . . as for the CTR heads, they,re basically the sme except for the wilder cam and the stronger retainers for the valve train. . .

you can but you need custom built rods if you want to do something like this.
Just get a gsr block or do the ls vtec and you should be able to run your ctr piston with this any of this engines.

Re: (sinanovicha)
CTR(higher compression) & B16a pistons are 81.5mm
CR-V pistons are 84mm. . . the b20 also has a longer stroke for more TQ since they have 4 wheel drive. . . the CR-V(B20 first gen CR-V) has really good potential as a turbo engine but otherwise the B18c5 is WAY better. . . its a Type-R performance engine
compared to the B20 which is a "small truck" engine.
compression for the B20(first gen CR-V) by the way is 8.8, which is why its good mostly for turbo
second gen CR-V has about 9.6c/r

older, late 80's prelude b20 engines are the odd ball of the group because their parts arnt really interchangeable w/the rest of the "B-series" family. . . its an unusually tall engine. . . mounts are harder to get there may be scraping issues depending on the shell it's being swapped into. . . B20 w/b16 head equals lots of potential. . .

Totally wrong.
The b20 has the same external demesions as a LS. Its basically an 84mm LS motor. Lots of parts are interchangeable with other B series.
Also there is a company(cant remember which) that makes special pistons so you can use LS crank and rods to stroke your b16.

Re: (Slopoke)
i changed it, youre right i meant the older B20's from the preludes late 80's engine
the modern B20(CR-V) is just like you said an LS w/84mm pistons. . .
wouldnt it make more sense to just put a B16 head on an LS or a B20 for that matter??
i'll dig up some info on the crank. . .

Re: B16a2-----b18c1/c5 (tial-eg)
There are b16 stroker kits that will make your b16 bigger but you cant use a b18 crank. The stroker kit comes with crank, rods, and pistons I believe.

For the price it will cost to do all that, you mine as well get a GSR shortblock instead. Save you more time/headache.
