B16a gen 2 stange noise
Hi everyone, I am getting the timing belt, head gasket and all other belts done but I have noticed a whistle / squeal sound at low revs (cant hear it at high revs) and when I switch the motor off I can hear it lower in pitch as it winds down and stops.
Can anyone suggest what it is and if there is something else I should get done at the same time to fix this?
Thanks

Stock intake system with K&N flat element type filter, sound is new and filter is about a month old so discounted it, thinking dry shaft in the alternator might be a posiability, has anyone come across that before that you know of?

might be the belt....let it run..put some water or something on the belts, see if it goes away...
it could be your belt tensioner too...that round thing...that makes your belt tighter...
spray some oil or something in there..see if it goes away...

I dont think so, been playing and found that at idle the sound is there and can be herd up to 1800 rpm then just stops, drop below 1800 and it kicks in again, only when warm, thinking input shaft in fan?

i could hear the intake suck in air in park when i revved my motor on my auto/EX. it does go away at higher rpms or you just can't hear it. either way its not hurting your car
