Default B16A in 95 ex problem...

i just put a b16a in my civic and now i am having problems...the idle is surging from like 1500 to 2k rpms and a thick white smoke is coming out of the exhaust...when i hit the gas pedal the motor like shuts down...it doesn't die all the way but it doesn't rev up...and the nipple coming off the back of the vc is shooting air out of it...

i also have a question about a port coming off the back of the motor under the itm...on my ls motor we just had the hose plugged shut with a bolt but on the b16 i rerouted it to another port on the motor that i thought coolant normally went through...here are pictures of the two ports
its the small on right above the black box

and here is the other side off my b18b that i plugged off

and here is where i rerouted it to on the b16 right under where the dizzy is

i also have this plug that i can't figure out...it's right near where the harness plugs into the passenger side of the head..

Double check all the wire harness plugs. Make sure that they're not switched around, especially the MAP and TPS plugs. As for the loose plug, it looks like the Intake Air Temp Sensor's. In regards to the hose I think that's a water hose for the Fast Idle Thermo Valve which is attached to the underside of the throttle body.

Is that plug only have 1 wire going to it? If so, what color is it? I just double checked, and that is the VTEC plug on my car.

Also that hose you have blocked off, needs to run to the TB. It runs coolant to the TB.

how come that plug doesn't plug into the vtec solenoid on my b16 then?

and that hose was blocked off on my ls...i just ran it back to the motor on another part...there is no port on my throttle body for that hose to go to

Alright, I edited your picture a little.

On your thermostat housing, do you have 2 small ports coming off of it? If you look at the picture, you'll see where the hoses need to go.

alright.. a little more info. this should help you.

the hose from the TB that is going to the metal pipe needs to be going to the Intake manifold. And the hose that is plugged (it is coming from the thermostat right?) it needs to go the metal pipe.

But here is what I would do. Go to the store, get a couple feet of that size hose.

1. Cut a new piece of hose to fit from the TB to the IM.
2. Cut a piece of hose to run from the thermostat to the head and eliminate the metal pipe.

Get what I am saying? That should fix your coolant/hose issues and idle.

the one that is plugged is on the LS motor i pulled out of the car before i put the b16 in...i would have to relook at the FITV to see what that hose is connected to...tonight when i get over there to mess with it i'll check and figure it out...maybe post another picture...

can you take me a better picture showing that side of the head to behind the throttle body so I can see all the hoses and ports.

Also take a picture of the thermostat area and intake manifold area where the coolant lines plug up.

ahh.. the picture I edited was the picture of your LS motor.

Alright.. Here is a picture of my JDM B16 OBD1 I got from Hmotorsonline that I put in my 92 integra a few years ago.

See if this helps you.

lol you'll get it done in time.

is that all that is wrong with it?

also, do you have something plug into the VTEC already? because I'm almost 99% sure that plug is for VTEC.

yeah i pretty much figured everything else out...other problem is i can't get it to go in gear even when the car is cut off...someone told me it's because i haven't bled the clutch system yet...so i'm going to try that and see if it works...then i just have to throw the passenger side skirt, driver fender and front bumper on and it's ready to go

and nothing is plugged in to the vtec solenoid but that plug won't fit on it...i've tried
