Default B16 Tranny to B18C5 Block?

Will this work? I'm not too familiar with the compatibility of the B motors to B trannies, and my friend is rebuilding a Type R longblock. However, he is considering getting an SI transmission (apparently the gear ratios are very similar to the ITR's). Any advice on what tranny would be best for the ITR (aside from an ITR)? Thanks guys, and sorry if I sound a little ill-informed.

any B series trans will bolt up except for the B20 prelude trans.

The Si trans will work just fine. It actually has a shorter 4th and 5th gear than the earlier ITRs. But no LSD.

yes if he is able to find a si tranny, then yes this will be the best set up. with the exception of a crv tranny (which can still bolt up), all the b-series trannies can bolt up to any b-series motor.

Well...an ITR trans would be the best setup. But the B16A trans is cheaper..with very similar ratios.

umm...well no, he only asked about a B16A trans. You said that the B16A would be the best setup. Since the only trans in question was a B16A trans, and you cant compare something to itself, I figured you were comparing the B16A trans to any other B series trans. In which case, the ITR trans would be more advantageous.

yes, i was comparing other b-series trannies, and those were the gsr and the ls. which in this case the si would be the best set up. everyone knows the itr tranny would be the best set up, the itr is at the top, so why would compare the si to the itr.

you can't compare the two.
