Re: B16 build help
Sell the block and start reading HT like your life depends on it. Don't even think about messing with your D16 either. Sorry if I'm coming off as rude/mean but right now you have no ****ing clue as to what you're doing. If you continue down that path without any knowledge you're going to end up frustrated and broke.

To make it simple on yourself and your wallet, you might want to consider getting a complete swap instead of trying to piece it together. It will be cheaper because you will have all the little stuff that you do not know that you may need.
The bare block that you have I seen people sell for $100 or less so you basically do not have much at this time(you may want to stand the crank on up with the crank pully facing up or put the crank back in the block cause that is a really bad way to store a crank). Building a motor takes time and knowledge so like LCDeuce said read read read on H-T and learn as much as possible.
When you know what you want to do with that block then you can start on building it. Keep in mind that you need to pay special attention to the bearing clearances. Get plenty of plastigauges(the green ones) and measure the bearing journals at all 4 angles criss cross style.
If you do not know anything about plastigauges then you are not ready to build a motor.

Re: B16 build help
i agree. but this place has all the info you could ever want. so just search around bookmark some good threads and before you know it you'll be ready to start messing around with a build. and you'll have much less problems and probably wind up with a way better motor.
i also think hands on is the best way to learn so maybe pick up a junk or cheap d15b7 and mess with that. i see them go for under 200 if you got the cash.

Re: B16 build help
i agree with another poster, store the crank either in the block, or standing on end. despite being a pretty stiff, strong piece of metal......it can warp sitting flat. the same goes for flywheels and cams.
i agree with another that its going to be ALOT easier and probably cheaper to get a swap kit from somewhere like jdm-online. and since it appears that you have little to no experience(just the impression i get) its gonna be your best bet to have a solid motor with no problems.
complications are very hard on you mind and usually the wallet too.

local is always the cheapest just check around your local area.Make sure it has paper work on it and its always best to buy a swap that u can drive before u buy atleast thats how alot of people do it around here . good luck

Re: B16 build help
you can get b16s for dirt, but why not get a b20b or z? they can be had for around 500-800 maybe a little more,
andi bet your going to pay way more to build that b16 then you would to get a b20z.
