b16 or b17
I just got my hatch and looking to get a motor, which is better b16 or b17? I understand the b17 has a little more horsepower and torque.

Re: b16 or b17 (RottenEggJDM)
if u can find a b17 that came out of a 1992 integra then BUY THAT ****!!!! thouse are the best gsr motor that acura has ever had i work for an acura dealer as a tech there and you dont know how many updates we had to do to those ecu's because the ecu couldnt take what the moter gave to it i know parts are hard to find but u do the swap right u will be running neck and neck with hatches with h22a's in them man just make sure that if u are going to to internal work make sure that u build the top and bottom end and make sure that is chiped right

People in Fairport are in trouble if they go to that dealership
The B17 had a favorable rod ratio, but the low compression is a downside if you're going N/A. Plan to swap out the pistons if you do pick it up.

Re: b16 or b17 (Cult of Staxx)
its your choice they are both decent motors but finding a b17 with lower miles is gonna be hard since they were only produced in usdm 92-93 integra gsrs

Re: b16 or b17 (LiL Jon)
screw d series, screw b series, screw the h22 and screw the k series. if you want speed then go jet engine. yeah, you have the jet lag of it needing to speed up, but just think, what other civic will have a 1.2 mile per second?
hope i helped

Explain how the B16 is "less trouble"? Come on, do it. This whole thread is full of crap. For one, the B17 head is the same as a first gen B16 head. Its no different because the B17 IS a B16 with a longer stroke. The crank, rods, pistons, and cams are different.. Other then that, its the same.
Someone said parts are hard to find... how is that when all B series parts will work just fine for it? I fail to see the point of that post.
The guy who works for Acura, your a tard and obviously don't work on the line by the way you are talking. If you are a line tech then people are in great trouble if they go to your dealership, as has already been said... And just a little help for you, the engine can't "throw" stuff at the ECU that it can't handle.
Between the two engines, the B17 IS a better platform then the B16. People can bitch and moan all they want... fact is it makes more torque (although not much) and the same hp in stock form as a B16. Up the compression to a reasonable level and it will always outperform a B16 with comparable mods... and by a good margin. If you can find one, pick it up. Its not difficult or expensive to rebuild the engine, so who cares about the mileage?

Thats pretty strange considering there is a B16 water pump sitting on my B17 right now. Been working for thousands of miles just fine.
