B series swap. Is it worth it?
Im planning on doing a EG hatch build when I get the money and find a good shell to use. What im planning on doing is either a D16Y8 boosted. Or a B series boosted. But what im wondering is there that big of a performance difference in the two motors. Besides of course the dual cams. Is it just a 40-50 hp diff. Or would it make in the end a huge 100 hp diff after building it. Also Im guessing D series are also cheaper to build rather and a B.

B series has more room for improvement and much better transmissions. The longest B series trans is the shortest D series trans. Also with the D series the ridiculously unequal axles makes for some terrible torque steer.

Time money and experience is not what im worried about. Im worried about the actual end result from it. Would losing all my accessories just to put in a bigger motor and a turbo be worth it or just stick a D series like it was made for.

Where do you lose anything when doing a swap? A B16 came stock in the SI. It has all the accessories the EX does. Don't understand where you're getting this from.

I Didn't know that. I miss assumed. When you do a swap do you have to pull the wire and re run them for the new motor or can you get adapters for the ecu plug etc. I`ve never attempted a EFI swap so no idea about the computer control area of it.

I don't think you would have to re run any wires. if its an obd1 motor it will work perfect. Since the d16y8 is obd2 your going to have to get a jumper harness.
