b-series half shaft seal
did a gsr swap in my eg a couple months ago. been driving it as the tranny was getting worse over time(ex: grinding gears, 5th popping out). so i figured low trans fluid. i was right as i put in 3 qts to nearly fill it up. then i notice a leak... which was why my tranny was acting up... runnin on nearly no fluid. i see it coming off the shift linkage so i pull it off. its seaping out of the half shaft seal which i didnt change out for a new one when i did the swap.
will i have to take off the half shaft to change out the seal or can i still leave it bolted on the trans? i just dont wanna have to take out the axles as part of changing out a seal.

I'm going to do this as well.
Just take it off, use a flathead to pry the old seal out, take care not to scratch the mating surface too much. Then pop the new seal in square, with a wooden block + hammer preferrably.

Re: b-series half shaft seal
thing is i dont wanna take the axle ends off since i know they're locked onto the half shaft w/the snaprings. if im gonna take off the halfshaft, how would i be able to pull off the axles if they're locked on? never done this before. when i did the swap i just cut the boots from the old motor since i didnt care about the old axles

they aren't locked on, just use a 32mm and a long bar. Or just take off the castle nut and take the hub off the lca and then unscrew the 3 halfshaft bolts and pull out, it's not hard to take out the halfshaft.

cool. thats not a prob then. pretty much what i had to do for the swap. i just thought the inner axle ends would be locked on the half shaft because of the snaprings.

been taking a break on this lately cuz been just plain lazy. to get the seal off do i need to pull both axles off or just far enough where i can slip out the half shaft to pop out the seal?

and on a related tranny issue: as i would start to drive when just putting it into 1st, huge vibrations would occur as if i had a bad motor mount. but only when engaging 1st. i know it could sound like a bad clutch spring but could low tranny fluid also be a factor?
