Default b series cranks..

I'm looking at getting a used gsr block, which I will rebuild... it doesn't come with a crank..

question is, should I find a used oem crank, or should I go aftermarket? I've read that OEM is great up to 500 + hp... only problem is finding a used crank...

any thoughts/suggestions appreciated..

edit: this will not be a high horsepower build.. if I go turbo, probably wouldn't go above 400hp.. not yet anyways..

OEM FTW. You dont need an aftermarket crank unless you plan on making more than 5-600 HP.

I'll just reiterate what King V said. Stick with an OEM Crank. If you're looking for a little added displacement, the LS crank (along with LS rods) will go into a GSR block just the same as a GSR crank.

if I went with the LS crank and rods, is there a specific piston I should look at too??

What is your power goal? Setup? Fuel grade you plan to run??

I'm leaning towards going NA, however, I may go turbo...

this is a DD, so if I go turbo, I'd probably stay 250hp or less so I can keep some tires on it... best fuel readily available around here is 91 octane, so that's what I'll be running..

Your piston choice is going to be influenced by your eventual goal. With 91 octane on a 9:1 turbo setup, you could safely hit 400whp. If you're looking at a stock rebuild, you can still hit your 250whp goal and probably further. On my stock block GSR, i hit 315whp on 91 octane. Once you figure out where you want to take your car, your choices will be clearer
