B-series 6speed transmission
I've attempted to search this but do you know how hard it is to search for "6".
Anyway, I wanted to know if there was any version of the Bseries that came with a six speed transmission.
Currently I have a B16 and transmission from 2000 si and I would like to cruise the highways in just one gear higher.
Firstly, do they exist, and secondly, anyone know where I could get one or what model or car I would have to search for to get one from?

Re: B-series 6speed transmission (SkoundrelUSA)
Search for the "LS final drive" or LS fifth" and you should come up with all you need. I have some pretty good info on this stuff as well so if you need help you can PM me or whatever. As far as a 6 speed though, no such thing for the B series.

Re: (SVOboy)
this man makes a good point, cants search LS either.
Ok well thanks for the info guys, sounds like a long/taller (whatever you wanna say) 5th gear is the way to go.
or.... hmmm K-series 6speed swap, I want me a k-series.
So, umm I will search for this but if you have any links to how to's for swapping the fifth gear out, I would appreciate them.
I think I'm pretty savvy mechanically, but I like following instructions and other peoples previous experiences.
Oh and, is the LS the best option or are there other similarly tall or taller 5th gears for the b series?
Aftermarket 5th gears perhaps?
Aftermarket racing technology 6-speed tranny... hmm if only I knew how to make things, or if I knew magic... yeah MAGIC

Re: (MonkeyPuzzle)
From what I understand the LS 5th is the only gear that is swappable in a B16a tranny. Not sure why or what the limitations are but the only info that I can find pertain to the LS 5th. Give me your email and I will send it to you. I have a ton of DIY's and collected knowledge of various things of personal interest.

Re: (travelor101)
I would also like to know this, anyone with an LS tranny or an LS 5th gear swap what kind of RPM are you getting at around 70mph?

Re: (travelor101)
oooh, 2500rpms sounds perfect!!! I will now begin researching this hardcore

well I am being tested to donate a kidney, key word being donate
$15K seems reasonable, concidering how one off it would be. I think I will be going the 5th gear swap option.
Anyone know how the full LS tranny is compared to the SI tranny, will I be losing alot of my performance from my 1-4 gears if I jsut swap the whole transmission?

Re: (MonkeyPuzzle)
Oooooohhhh no man, now that is one of the biggest questions asked about the trannies I see. By "SI" I presume you mean the B16, and comparing the B16 tranny to the LS tranny is apples and oranges. This discussion always ends the same way, the B16 trannny has the shortest gearing. This directly translates into faster excelleration, straight up. That is just how it is. Personally I hate math but even the numbers prove it.
In a sense that is the trade off. Throwing the LS 5th in the B16 tranny is definately a better way to go than the LS. I have the B16 tranny and I am in the midst of weighing my odds for putitng in the LS 5th myself. From what I hear "it is like hitting a brick wall" when shifting into 5th. But that just might be nice to chill.
Wish you luck...

Was wondering when someone was going to say something about this.

Re: (travelor101)
ok so 5th gear swap it is, but should I use the LS 5th gear, the GSR 5th gear, or are there some other possiblities?
And I will NOT be doing the $15K for a 6speed B-series. If I was going to waste that kind of money I would skip the K-series and go straight for the AWD from the CRV :D

GSR trans isnt too bad... im side by side w/ any em1 out there, just bolt ons of corse
GSR 5th gear is no where near as tall as the LS.. at 70mph im at about 3.5-3.7k, still very close to 4k

Yup I'm serious, if I was going to spend $15k I would want AWD, or else I would spend my $15k on a subaru. So I think the swap from a CRV would be sweet, lots of work though. Hell, CRV is k-series now, so I could do K-series and AWD
And thanks for the info on the GSR 5th gear, so I guess I will be ruling that one out too.
So any other options besides the LS?
Also, can I use any year LS, coz the integra LS has been around quite a few years?
Perhaps there are some year LSs that were better for some reason?

i dont think the LS 5th gear is going to put you near 2500rpms at 70 unless you are running like monsterous tires. i would say closer to 3000-3300 rpm.

Where the hell did you get $15,000 for a k series swap? You can have them PROFESSIONALLY installed (including them providing you with all the parts) for around $10,000. If you search for the parts and get decent prices you can get one put together and installed by yourself for less than $5,000.

Sound about right, my d series tranny runs at about 2700 rpm at 70 and exactly 4000 at 90.
