Default Autozone Brake Rotors: Who's using them?

1. How many miles?
2. Do you use them for track, street, or both?
3. How do they compare to stock rotors in terms of durability and performance (i.e. rotor warping, brake fade)?

I'm at 155K on a 00 Si with stock original rotors (moderately warped). I resurfaced them once at 125K, and were never resurfaced before then. I'm the original owner as well.

So I could buy a generic pair of blanks at Autozone for $50.00 or online at Honda for $110.00. Any problems with the Autozones for 40-60K miles? Thanks in advance.

There's probably not too much of a difference between rotors from a parts store and then from Honda. They're not drilled/slotted and the same diameter... I'd be more curious about the brake pads.

Brake pads are OEM. I'm more concerned about brake fade resistance and heat dissipation on the Autozone Rotors (or similar). For those using them, how are they holding up?

I bought a set of Brembo blanks from this thread, can't be happier, though I'm only 4K in. Ultimate pads are ridiculously dusty, but I knew that going in.

Based on what the AZ website is listing for my car I got a complete set of name-brand rotors & pads - shipped - for less than it'd cost to buy a pair of generic rotors. Hopefully your car is less...

did i miss something...where is the link

i currently am using AZ brand rotors...i think for street they are ok...but for track it is not good because it will not be able to handle the heat...i know i found a thread once that someone made about cheap rotor for track purpose...it look pretty bad...i wish i can link it. so you can see it...

i have used auto parts store generic rotors before on the drag strip, autox, track, and street. they work just fine. i would advise sticking with a honda or performance aftermarket pad (project mu...). the rotors worked great and do not warp any more than a stock rotor will. if you want to get a rough idea of how the rotor will deal with the heat, and be resistant to warping, weigh it, the heavier the rotor, the better.

Yeah, to a certain extent there's really not a whole lot of "tech" to regular Honda brake rotors - they're just cast iron alloy parts. The important thing is that the metal be a consistent density across the face of the rotor. The less consistent the mixture, the more often they'll need to be resurfaced.

This isn't very high tech, but I've had aftermarket rotors that needed resurfacing more often than I'd like. I'm not sure what, if any, differences there are between the 1yr AZ rotor & the 3yr AZ rotor...

How in the hell do you go 155k on stock rotors?

When they were resurfaced at 125k I'm willing to bet they were well below spec.

Some people don't drive like maniacs and their brakes last forever. My mom went on stock rotors and pads until 102k. But on the other hand, I do drive like a maniac...my WRX has 11k miles and I will need pads soon.

I just threw those pads on my car today, wtf, I thought ceramic pads were suppose to dust significantly less..

Don't kid urself, u get what u pay for no matter what, found rotors for my Jetta (b4 I sold it) $25/rotor, yeah, about 1 month they're warped (and still on the car I might add...)even though they look stock in every way, shape, and form, can't tell the diff between them and a vw rotor, it's a total get what u put in system..

You get what you pay for, yes and no.

If you can find the exact same product for less money from Vendor A vs. Vendor B, it doesn't mean you're getting any extra "value" by bending over and taking it from Vendor B.

Brembo makes quality products. They make the rotors for some OEM vehicles. They're way up there my the list when it comes to manufacturers of quality aftermarket parts.

But don't get me wrong: 99% of what's available on eBay is worthless crap that won't last for more than a month. But just because people buy worthless aftermarket crap from there doesn't mean all non-OEM products are crap.

Brembo blanks 100%. The vatozone rotors warp in a matter of weeks and cost twice as much.

running autozone rotors, zero problems. no warping, its been a good 4+ months.

i dont drive my car very hard though, so that could be the reason.
