automatic civic
alright, i am about to hit the jackpot. i will be receiving a 1992 Honda civic DX with only 20k miles. the only bad part is that it is an automatic. i was just wondering what are something that will improve on my acceleration speeds and overall speeds that is inexpensive and doesn't have to do with switching it from automatic to manual?

well my great grandma had it, and she bought it brand new from the dealer. she had it serviced every 2 months, and the only place she drove it was to the grochery store which was right across the street. so she wasnt to hard on it beings that she is 95 years old. but now that she has gone insane, they are going to pass it on to me. it just rolled over 20k about 2 weeks ago.

What model is it? coupe/hb/sedan? I wouldn't worry bout tryin to be fast in it. With that low mileage, just use it for daily driving. Maybe do suspension and appearance. Or sell it and buy a manual car.

Nothing different about an automatic than a manual. Just be careful about some part applications, like AEM or DC, they can be trans specific. But there's always something that will fit. If you want to build the trans itself, check out TCI. Auto can be very competitive and very fun with a 5th gen. It has its own strengths and weaknesses and isn't inherently bad like everyone seems to think.
I say start with an intake and then get a header and exhaust. Follow that with swaybars and move up to some springs and struts.

F straight line, even your grandma can drive fast straight(but she probably didnt). the point is you should consider building your suspension. if you can turn your car is not worth driving, jus my personal opinion. i own a automatic civic too which im selling soon and it can take out higher hp cars in the corners no problem.

keep it if you aren't going to go from auto to manual. What a find. You can try to find a better torque converter. I think TCI may make one for the fifth gen, does anyone know for sure?

yeah i definatley say just leave it bone stock and just use it as a daily driver. people are saying just sell it, but im guessing youre family wouldnt be cool with that, but if they are, thats what id do. i think it sounds like a sweet car though, and is gonna be great on gas milage, so you can save up for a different car in a year or two.
i see it as an opportunity to save your money and plan out a different car altogether. swapping an engine in your case with be stupid as hell cuz of the low milage. someone will wanna pay good money for it some day, so in the mean time, just keep it stock and dont mess it up!

Well Private Party isn't much, $3,030. I know you can find someone to get $4,000 though. I know I would pay that for such low miles and babied the way it was.
I'd say keep it for a daily driver. But, if you have no money, sell it, find a decent hatch and with the money you saved, upgrades.
