Auto Transmission - shifting from 'D' to 'R' resistance
Hello from a new register but a longtime lurker and lifetime Honda supporter -
I just drove my wife's '97DX auto w/88k miles last night and noticed that the shifter is becoming difficult to put into gear from park. Even with my foot firm on the brake and pushing the trans button with my thumb, there is a lot of resistance in pulling back the shifter from D to R (all other gear shifts seem ok). I have kept the trans fluid fresh with Honda ATF as scheduled and have also run a search. Is there some other trans maintenance, other linkeage issue, etc that I am missing? Have others had a similar problem or is there a known flaw in this transmission system? The car is stock and in great shape. I want to get several more years out of it but don't want to kill the transmission.
TIA.
