auto tranny question
hey guys i just got a 95 civic ex with 256k on body and a newer d16z6 with an auto tranny. the tranny seems to hold out the revs for too long before it shifts i was wondering what that would be? the shift sensors?

Throttle control cable is too tight, or the armature/valve is sticking internally. This cable runs to the transmission, and must be timed with the engine's throttle cable. As soon as the throttle plate moves, this valve must move. Too loose, you may slip the clutches, too tight and it will wind out.

yep, i knew a guy who bought a car for 650 bucks that was mint, because it was doing this, only to an extreme. the cable was completely unattached. he hooked everything back up and the car ran beautifully. he got himself a deal.

try cheap fix first, change fluid, see what happens then add the little bottle of tranny lube or whatever they call it, Honda even sells it

Yes. In my experience Honda automatics are sensitive to fluid level and type. Try draining and filling with Honda ATF and see what happens. My CRV and my old Accord both used to shift goofy if they were high, low, or running anything other than Honda ATF.
