I need to confirm what type of plug was used from the factory for the primary oxygen sensor.

Is the plug male or female on the wire harness side? (NOT the oxygen sensor itself).

Thanks for anyone willing to check.

It may look like a male plug, but the pins are on the sensor side.

Wierd, because I got a "direct replacement" oxygen sensor from Denso and I have a male plug on BOTH sides of the corresponding harnesses.

okay, so from reading through the archives, here's what I've found.

Since I've swapped motors, B16A2 in 99 EX and reusing the EX harness the 02 sensor plug on the EX is a male, while on the Si harness is a female. So instead of switching to an Si harness (pain in the ***), is it possible to just make a female - female jumper harness?

I just want to make sure it's not going to [freak] up the heater wires or anything, since it also sounds like people that splice / cut up the wires have problems later on with pre-mature wearout.

I just did some research and according to http://www.autopartswarehouse.com
The denso O2 sensor (Part No: NP2344209 ) fits BOTH the EX (D16Z6/D16Y8) and SI (B16A2) and everything in between from 1996 to 2000. (and a whole bunch of 90 - 96 models)

So it shouldn't matter that your harness is from an EX.

Maybe your harness has some kind of Female/Female extension on it?
I'm at work and pics don't usually show up on this computer, so if you haven't already, could you show us a pic of the harness so we can see what both ends look like PLS.

Yeah, it is!

They got 5-wire HX sensors mixed in with 4-wire sensors...
