Anyone who has boosted a B20B, or knows or has experence boosting them..questions...also b16a boost
Honestly dont know anyone who has ever done it before personally. My friends have all boosted roughly 8 psi to a stock ls and have never had any probs. Word of mouth around here is dont boost them because the block is too thin, or dont do it because the sleeves are too weak. Is there a diff at all between the thickness of the b18b and the b20b blocks? For the sleeves, couldnt you just upgrade the sleeves before a build and correct that prob? From what i know, difference in compression of 9.4:1 JDM vs 9.2:1 USDM in the B18 which should both be safe for boost. B20 should be 8.8:1, 9.2:1, or 9.6:1 which should also be safe. So is there a prob boosting the b20 sleeved?
My other question is..right now i have a b16a in my 92 hatch. Ive heard dont boost this motor because you will keep burning out the rings. Is this true? Because im pretty sure gsrs dont have this prob

If you sleeve it you could boost as much as you want (on most sleeves, others higher then others). For stock the sleeves are weak because there thin (due to the size). If you build it right (pistons and rods) and have it well tuned you could probably see 300whp before needing sleeves.
For the B16 question whoever told you the rings will "burn out" never heard of tuning.

I agree 100% as I've pushing 10psi with stock sleeves. It's all in the tune.

Have you heard of any probs boosting B16's? And thanks for the b20 sleeve info. What pistons would you recommend in the b20 for boost?

If you have a crappy tuner your going to have a crappy set up. ITS ALL IN THE TUNE when you deal with high hp apps.
CP seem to be doing a good job with there pistons.

There are a lot of people who have turbo stock B16s on here, and just like has been said, the tune is essential. If someone cheaps out on a tune, then it wouldn't even be worth it for them to soend the money they already put into.
