Anyone run 14" rims? Question about 14" Volks.
I want to purchase 14" volk's (CE28N's)...weighing 6.5 lbs each.
Car is '99 CX Hatch.
Stock offset is +45mm. Volks can be ordered in 14 x 5.5 in +45mm offset.
It looks like it'd be really close in the rear to the upper control arm.
Has anyone done this/know if it will work? Thanks.

Re: Anyone run 14" rims? Question about 14" Volks. (jspecsirhatch)
thats really small, you sure that the size you want???
14" Steel Rims = 17.4
Snow Tires......= 19.0...36.4 lbs
15" Kosei K1's.= 13.0]
Potenza S03's...= 22 ]...35.0 lbs
See, the Kosei Combo is lighter than the steel rims, however, I race my friend's Civic EX all the time, and with the steel rims I beat him, Kosei's on I lose..it's very noticeable. Basically, it's like I took the weight from the center (steelies) and put it on the outside (Kosei's). I never would have thought I'd notice, but unfortunately, the K1's w/ S03's are too heavy for me.
So, proposed..
14" CE28N......6.5
Falken Azeni...20.5...27.1 lbs
With this, the weight is moved back toward the center again. It should be much better. I'd rather run 15's, but my car doesn't have the power to turn them

CE28N are made in 14x5.5" with 35 or 45 offset.....check the website

just use spacers, thats the only way to correct it....
other choice of fairly lightweight wheels is JDM Enkei ES-Tarmac

they are only 8.5-9lbs in weight

Yeah, I meant +45mm offset. Still, running a +35 offset pushes it out 10 mils, and then the rim (since it's a 1/2 inch wider) sticks out more toward the inside of the car another 6 mils. So, you're losing 4 mils of contact you had on the inside.
I at least want to cover the exact same contact patch that Honda intended.
If I had a turbo though....yeah, this wouldn't matter!

Man...my rims weigh like 20lbs a piece.

*for future reference of this thread*
I just called Tirerack, and they said the 14 x 6 rims would not rub or hit the control arm in any way, so I guess it'll all work if I so choose to run these volks (14 x 5.5).
Do I really want to run 14's...

You've already found your answer, but just to confirm... a +45 shouldn't be a problem even on a wider rim.
The ones you're talking about are only 5.5" wide so you'd have huge amounts of room.

just keep in mind that if you ever want to do a brake upgrade to gsr or especially type r there might be a clearence issue. i wouldnt waiste the money for 14'' volks, just get the 15s and the 15" azenis. or for some temporary use just get some 14" hx wheels thats what i did, theyre cheap and pretty light too. i believe 12lbs

Hx is ugly, but yes 11.7 lbs.. hey who cares how they look! A lot cheaper than the volks, but like he said... a gsr brake upgrade might have you running into problems with the 14's.

I run Azenis on 14" HX wheels and love it. There's a point when wheels are too light that it's just annoying though... I had 15" te37s w/ AVSi and I could never hook up accelerating in a straight line, it was really beginning to **** me off before I finally sold them.
