Anyone interested in faster ratio rack for manual rack cars?
While looking through the new Quaife catalog I picked up at the IAS, I noticed they have faster ratio racks for many cars, but not the 92-5 Civic. I spoke to the guys at the Quaife booth and said there is a large group of Civic enthusiasts who would be interested in such a part. They said they would look into it.
Here's what I suggest: call or email Quaife with a request to make a faster ratio rack for the EG. IF they can justify the tooling they will make it. The good thing is they won't cost that much, maybe $175. Many of the ones in the catalog are less than $150.
I know I need one so how many others do too?

Eventually, I would be interested, but I can't say I would have the money to buy it anytime soon. Too many other things to tend to first.

It depends on the ratio. The 'teg(power) racks are quicker than the 5th gen. civic racks. 17:1 vs. 19:1.
Hence, I have a '98 gs/gsr rack/subframe in my '94 civic. I ditched all the lines, pump, and reservior and looped the in and out fitting on the rack. Here's a good post most of have probably seen:

Works pretty well, so far.

I picked up a power rack for free. I also Have the subframe, but is the subframe required for the rack to bolt in.

Re: Anyone interested in faster ratio rack for manual rack cars? (Blue-Civic-Hybrid)
The racks will be for the manual steering cars, so they won't necessarily fit the power racks. The ratio depends on what they figure out will work with the car, probably somewhere around 15:1.
I want to do this to avoid using the power rack without the lines etc and changing the subframe to work with a power rack...

OK I just got an email from Quaife, they are interested in making them, minimum run is 25 sets. I will be sending them the rack to do the prototype next week. Hopefully this will come together over the next month or so. I'll keep you all informed, and tell your friends, as the more they make the cheaper they are

yeah yeah
Was going to do the looping system like highlighted in the thread that someone posted. I'd definently be interested in it for the EG (Hope my power steering rack lasts a little while longer with out the power steering fluid).

Re: Anyone interested in faster ratio rack for manual rack cars? (Doctor CorteZ)
The ITR and regular Integra share the same ratio, at least according to the Acura parts book it's the same rack, which has something like 2.9 turns lock to lock. I think that is plenty fast enough for the majority cases, but some will want a faster one. So I'll ask them for a 16:1 or something close...
Also, I am sending them the 88-91 rack too, and if I can find a 96-2000 rack I'll send that just for the heck of it.

Re: Anyone interested in faster ratio rack for manual rack cars? (fastbrakes)
For a Civic that was equipped w/power steering from the factory, but no longer uses it, would the new rack possibly fit? And get rid of at least some of the "play" that they possess?
