Default Anyone else do this swap. And have this problem ?

How's it going guys. I've been on a 8 month build with my 93 civic 4 Dr. Comes from factory with d15b7, I COMPLETLY rebuilt motor. New rings new pistons new bearing ect, I threw a d16y7 head on it and a d16z6 intake. Ported exhaust and heads shaved. I have an aftermarket header, 10.2mm spark plug wires, ngk r spark plugs, and an adjustable cam gear. Problem I'm having is the motors in,and I can start it ( I have to use jumper cables cuz my batterys dead) but I get it to start, I hit the gas and it bogs, and it shuts off on its own after running for 5 min on idle....I'm so aggravated I got 8onths into this build and I've adjusted the timing 2° at a time all the way from retarded 12° to advanced 16° ( on the forums it said it had to be advanced 12° with this head - and it runs at advanced anywhere between advanced 8° and 12° but it shuts off on its own, and I've done everything I know how to do to make it run right and everything I do I just can't fix it, I've even swapped out dizzyz (using the b7 dizzy) I tried the y7 dizzy no change. Can anyone PLEASEE tell me what's going on here ??? I'm so lost and I'm about over ******* with this car 8 months of time, money, blood, and sweat into building it and its not right. Anyone else done this swap and had these problems ? If so PLEASEE HELP. also the y7 head came with a computer (guy said it was chopped but I plug it in and car won't even start) so I put mine back in. When motors running it feels like it gets really really hot within a 4-5 min period of timr. Whatever's wrong with it is beyond my knowledge....maybe if someone's local to palm bay,fl I'll pay u to come fit it and get it right.

I'm not trying to be all in the details or anything, but.. Based on what you described, the first thing I thought of was "fuel." (Delivery, pump, injectors.. It just sounds like something there, if it bogs when you hit the gas, and shuts off on its own.)

It might not be. But I wanted to throw the suggestion in the ring.

Nice build. I can relate to the "time in" aspect.. if nothing else..

Ya its been rather aggrivating. I'm using factory 190cc b7 injectors ( I have a set of 460cc injectors from a d18 but I can't put them in till I get ecu tuned and bigger throttle body I don't think factory ecu can handle that big. What would u suggest to do to check fuel pressure? When it tries to shut off if I feather the gas I can keep it running but as soon as I stop pumping it it'll **** back off

I meant 240cc"" sorry. The y7 injectors are 190 b7 injectors are same as vtec z6 ones with exception of 4-5 cc difference

Are the adjustable cam gears zero'd out for stock alignment? Are you running a chipped ecu, and if so who tuned it?

I have 2 ECUs. One of them came out of the other 93 civic which is what I took this headabd intake off of. I was told it ran great ( but I put the ecu in my car and it won't even start it'll just turn over supposedly its chipped) its a 37820-p06-a51 APY. MY FACTORY ECU the one that om using that came in my car is a 37820-p06-a01 APX

Right now its advanced 8° - it runs from 8-12° advanced but it seems it doesn't feel as hot running at 8, 12 feels like the motor gets too hot

Your motor looks tilted towards the transmission.

Why such big injectors on a 'stock' motor?

Pull your plugs, what do they look like?

Did you get the tune on the ecu, or did you buy the ecu with this tune in it already?

It's the factory ecu that was in this car before I did all the modding. It ran before i drove it to my house with a blown head gasket

Check your ignition timing while the car was idling?

UPDATE: I redid the timing. Come to find out the timing mark on my crank and timing cover are wrong. I put a screw driver in #1 raised it to the top and set timing from there. It's 4-6° retarded from where the mark is on the crank....kinda weird. Anyways now it starts and idles too high, and surges at certain rpm. Nomore bogging when hitting the gas but idles too high and still shuts off after 5 minutes

its a confusing swap, that requires time and patience. Check for vac leaks, cover the iacv and see if it goes down.

It's getting there. But with every step it goes forward it uncovers a new problem to fix to fix it now I can start it keep it running but it idles screwed up,sometimes 700 setomes 1500 sometimes it sirges between rpms II and when I hit the gas if o feather it I can make it run on higher rpms but if I punch it it wants to shut off. Interesting thing now is that when I turn on headlights, or push in the clutch it tries to stall unless I keep my foot on the gas and keep it idles up will I let off clutch
