I dont know how you see putting 5 Lug is for show cars - how about upgrading from those puny *** Civic brakes to bigger ITR brakes.

For people with a brain it's not a show mod, for a lot of guys it is, though. You can't deny that. "look at me look at me, I have 5 lug!" Bah.

JW guys - whats the size of front/rear ITR brakes? After thinking a little - i want to do a brake upgrade, either ITR or just do a GSR rear disc with Fastbrakes 11 rotor w/Wilwood Dynalite caliper. Fill me in fellas..

EDIT got the info..

F 282 mm / 11.1 in
R 260 mm / 10.2 in

whatcha guys think - cheaper to go with the gsr rear disc and fsatbrakes front..? ITR 5-lug sure is tempting..

yea i think the conversion is worthless, the spindle is heavier too,and why would u need brakes THAT big to stop a car just over 2000lbs? im sure you could get a brake kit with a MUCH better caliper for $1000 cheaper and 1 less lug. whoop dee doo

i was thinking of doing the 5lug ITR conversion but not for looks. I figure with a swap in my car i'm gonna need to stop fast. To me its gonna worth it to have a nice quick car with good brakes.

If anyone does any serious road racing, they will know that brakes and tires is essential for faster lap times. Upgrading to ITR spec brakes is one of the best mods if you are planning to road race your car. I have GSR front brakes on my GSR EG and i am still overheating at the track!! ITR conversion = . Too bad i can't afford a set!

Because it can be done without a five lug conversion.

What kind of brake fluid are you using? Are you using dot 4?

again.. heres my story.

average 5 lug with the wheels go for 1500.
i then sold my si wheels/tires for 350
i then sold the ITR shocks/springs/sway bar for 300 since they dont fit on 96+ hatches (besides the sway bar + mount kit)
i then sold my old drum set up for 100.
350+300+100=$750? doing this from the top of my head..
1500-750= $750 after all is said and done

$750 for some nice brakes, for some nice wheels, and an extra lug that is 75% for looks.. 25% for help in road racing..yes it reduces stress on the other 4 lugs slightly. but those with the 4 lug are going to hate and say "wtf yeah right.. blah blah".

but yeah, i'm not ashame to admit it.. 75% of the reason i got it was because of the looks (i'm keeping the ITR theme with my car)

Ok so I have sort of tossed around this idea through my head and it makes better sense sort of now. Sure the weight is there but that cant bring down the better braking (i want to do HPDE's) and you do get rims with also (so i have ricer tendencies).

Anyway when i added up my wannabe brakesetup
Fastbrakes 11" w/Wilwood Dynalite = $700
Rear Disc = $250 w/all chit
New Rims/tires = $755 (rollin on 13" VX spec)

So thats about $1600 - with that I can buy an ITR setup, better braking, I get rims with that too. Plus I can rock teh Mazda Millenia Rims. So basically im set on getting ITR 5-lug now. WERD

...And the Wilwood kit will still demolish the ITR brakes on a Civic.

Nice try though!

5-lugs are neato, but really they are not necessary for good braking power.

FASTBRAKES ROCK.

That will be my braking set-up.

The entire Fastbrakes set-up is MASSIVELY lighter than the ITR stuff. If you've ever picked up an Accord Wagon caliper you'd know what I was talking about.

You are right, brakes are NOT a reason to get the 5lug, but the avaliable wheels might be. Also, 5 lug will ditribute the forces applied to the wheels more evenly, thats why the R got them.
The Fastbrake kit is nice, but I still love my Legend 2piston calipers on my 4lug setup! Brian is still the brake master though!
