Any specific Timing belt recomended for a single cam turbo build?
Like the the title says, im going to be installing a turbo kit on my single cam non vtec. I want to replace the belts before that, but i wanted to see if there was anything better than the oem replacement available for the single cam?
I know greddy has one for the bseries, but i havent seen one yet for single cams.
Thanks, much appreciated.

Im sure there are aftermarket OEM replacements that claim to be better but I prefer OEM. Thats just my opinion though.

I heard rumor of a Toda belt. Supposedly 2X as strong as a stock belt. dunno how expensive they are though

Sorry,
Just googled it to double check, they just offer em for the B16, B18 and C20 or w/e for the NSX. Guess factory's your best bet.

Off topic but is the bottom end of your motor built up? I only ask because these single cam motors usually just blow up if not built prior to boost. They're just not that strong.

Thanks Guys:
Well no its not built at all its completely stock. But im not looking to boost too much, its going to be a daily driver. maybe 5 or 6 psi.
If i was to want and boost more i would need to build the bottom block, i know that. But im not too experienced with that, maybe you can point me in the direction on some info on what exactly to build on it.
Thanks......So just to make sure..oem belt right?

First step would be to buy a B series swap and then pick up forged internals, upgraded vavletrain and so on. Or if you have money to blow, get a k20 swap and boost thatll... The chicks will love it

Yea OEM timing belt. As for the bottom end build, some forged rods and forged low compression pistons, new rings and bearings. I would have a reputible machine shop put it all together for you though so you can be sure your bearing and ring clearances are correct. Maybe beef up your head a but with a turbo cam and some valves and springs. Make sure when you boost it's highly recomended that you buy some head studs to replace the stock bolts because you can get some head lift with stock bolts when boosting.

OEM would be fine. I know I have a brand new one sitting on my shelf, as well as a water pump and idler. PM me, maybe we can work something out.
D series motors can take a lot of boost. There's a guy in my town who's been running like 20 some pounds on a D16Y7 block with Vitara pistons with no issues. He's supposedly pretty good with tuning, so that probably helps a lot, especially since the D series that came in 6th gens was more prone to blowing up.

OEM will work, but if you're wanting to go beyond the OEM belt pick up a Gates Racing timing belt. I believe Gates made the OEM timing belt for Honda, and they also do for many other import manufacturers. The Gates Racing belt is actually the same thing as the Greddy timing belt, just much cheaper. I think I picked mine up for like 40 shipped. Check into them, very very nice product. Kind of like OEM +1.

Gates racing ftw i got mine in blue. I think thats the only color they come in
As for all this talk about you have to swap a b, or build with forged blah blah blah is bs
I dont know how we went from a timing belt recommendation to..... Forged rods, forged pistons, new bearings, headwork, boosted k20's and bseries swaps
You do not need to build your d16 hundreds o people can vouch for that
Stock d16 can run 12 psi safely all day with a good tune. That will get you into low 13's
