Start with reading a lot before you do anything.

I agree, read before you decide. I'm SO glad I've waited as long as I have to get stuff done to my car. It makes for a cleaner/more complete build to do it all at once.
IMO, if you want something bad, get a good shock/spring combo and some swaybars.
Oh, and some cool wheels.
