Probably because ABS will haul you down in a panic stop better than most every human being is able to threshold brake.

Conceivably you should be able to do it if you rip out your entire brake hydraulic system and install the ABS version, and then wire up all the assorted sensors and ABS computer. Not a project for the faint of heart or those without a Helms manual.

Yes it is. on the EG chassis any of the EG ABS parts from the EX or LX sedan will fit perfectly. You will need to swap out the master cylinder/booster as well as the rear trailing arms and front knuckles. Its not hard to do if you have access to cheap parts. I personally have installed the EX ABS system on a 92 SI and a TypeR ABS system on a 93 CX.

I have the ABS parts from the SI swap if anyone is interested. Cheap, I just want to get rid of them but they do work.

P.S. I do considder ABS to be a very worthwhile addition to the car. Not only is it a proven safety feature it also effectively allows you to threashold brake on a road course without fear of locking up. For you Jenny Craig weight fanatics out there the ENTIRE system adds less than 10 pounds to the car. I know because I have weighed it.

Mike

so i'm assuming you would have to do a rear disc conversion first prior to the abs install?
