have you guys ever thought about just buying 1157 sockets from autozone and rewiring them to the 3157 factory sockets?

Why? I know somebody has to sell amber bulbs. I'm not ready to hack up my factory wiring to the headlights just yet.

Honda doesn't carry amber bulbs for the 96-98. They all came with an amber "cap" inside the headlight, and all of the bulbs were clear.

Correct. I need dual filiment amber bulbs that will fit in the stock corner sockets. I don't care if they're the "amber when lit up, clear when they're off" type or just plain old amber.

there they are right? go to http://www.autolumination.com they have everything imaginable with cheap prices to. just scroll past all the led's. and they will be a few from the bottom, that is after you select the 3156-3157 link.

cant you just replace them with a 1157NA (natural amber) bulb that's available at any auto parts store? it should interchange fine with the factory 3496 bulb

Fine, then check ebay No seriously, every auto store I go to has them, I dunno why your area is so limited with it. You can also try to hit up a auto service shop, they usually buy in bulk. Or Napa type stores or Carquest.

Speaking of which, just wondering if there was a better way to change the turn signal bulbs without have to remove the bumper and the headlight just to change the turn signal bulb?

Re: (steveg99)
The ONLY place I have found that has the amber turn signal bulbs for the 96-98 civic is Super Autobacs. Autozone, pep boys, kragen, napa don't have it. I had to go there for the rears, then when my fronts turned nearly clear (orange paint chipped off) I called around and they were the only ones that carried them. If anyone needs them I will be glad to get them for you. Just pay for the bulbs and shipping and I will send the recite(sp) too.

Re: amber bulbs (Knightmare69)
NAPA, Pep Boys, Wal-Mart, Advanced Auto Parts, and etc... all carry these bulbs, I got some for my 98 civic at Wal-Mart, they were like 3.88 or something like that. The bulb is a 1157, so just look for Amber 1157 bulbs, they also make Silverstar bulbs(look clear) but light up bright amber. Up to you guys on what you want. If you are looking for something to pass inspection, I would go with the actual amber bulbs, even though silverstar bulbs are street legal.

I noticed that with the amber cap on with a bright white bulb... the turn signal was brighter. Just a little info. I do like the way they look without the cap though.
