3400 is ******* insane for an engine
YOu can get a JDM ITR from a reputable company for 4 or 5 stacks
You can get a 30k B16 for less than 30 large from hmotorsonline...
DO NOT buy that motor, that is rediculously expensive, buy one from somebody in your area, you can buy the whole longblock for like 500 bucks, and keep teh same axles, same ECU, same everything...
Although I dunno what engine u have in there now, but the D15b (JDM) sounds like a pretty kick-*** motor for the D_series...that or a D16Z6, for like 400
+ u can get away with a short block - u don't need the tranny and u have all the sensors..
If you pay that much from the dealership I will hunt you down :-P

Re: (Hyjnx)
Just buy a used block from someone for $100 or less.
YOU take the motor completely apart, and then take the shortblock to a machine shop and have them bore/hone/install pistons/rod/crank.
YOU put it all back together. This will cost a lot less than $3400
Or buy a complete motor from someone for arond $400 and swap the whole damn thing.
YOU also, change your ******* oil more often and you won't blow a hole through your block. I'm going to really laugh at your if this was a stock motor, no boost!!

Did you seriously have to ask if you're getting ripped off? You can pick up a used engine for under $500.00 usually from someone who did a swap.
Search around or like someone suggested get a block.

is that including labor? (find out the price of the engine and labor)
-edit-
of course, honda is going to make bank of you. labor is the killer when you go to dealership. plus don't you get warranty?
you can either learn to swap yourself or pay up. the previous owner of my car said he paid around 2k for d16y5 installed with around 50-60k. (1st owner beat the **** out of the car and didn't bother changing the oil)

Don't do it.Dealer always rips you off.$3,400 for a d-series is insane. You could get a decent mileage b-series for way less,or you could rebuild that d for way less too,but $3400 for a d series is outragous. Not every motor you get is gonna blow up after 120k.My friends pops civic has 200k and runs smoother then mine with around 100k,but he maintains his waaaaay better then I do.If you don't maintain it,it won't last.If you wanna buy that motor for $3400 because you feel its a good deal, then do it,but me personally...I definately wouldn't do it.

When I get my swap I'll sell you my full d16y7 swap (motor, tranny, axels, dizzy, ecu...everything) with 75k miles for $500. Now I'm not telling you to wait and buy mine, but a lot of people have the same mentality as me and want to get rid of it quickly rather than letting it take up room in their garage. Just something to think about before spending $3400 on a d-series motor!

Ha thats funny, actually based on the color of your oil and the condition of your car, YOU blew your motor from not doing the proper maintence. **** i have your rod rod bolt to prove it. The motor is/was only $1700 with a warranty, granted thats pretty steep but hey thats the price we were quoted. The rest of the money is for labor not to mention the t-belt package and all the gaskets that need to be replaced and flushing the entire cooling system of all the oil that contaminated it.I feel bad that you threw a rod but damn you brought your car to HONDA knowing damn well you blew your motor, what did you think we were gonna do? hold you and tell you it'll be okay,we'll fix it for free, sorry thats not how the world works.Good luck your Local Honda technician.
