Am I asking for too much $$$????
I'm trying to sell my car and my asking price is $13,000. It's a :
1998 Civic EX Coupe
33,000 Miles
Very Good Condition, but not excellent (has it's dings/scratches)
2000 SI rims with brand new Kumho Ecstas
Alpine CDA-7864 Head Unit (retail is $399.99)
Clean Title
I think the only real unattractive part of the car is the head unit setup. I had my cd player stolen before...so when i bought my alpine..instead of installing it in the stock radio position....i put it below...where the optional honda cd player would go....right above the cup holders. So in order to keep a more stealth appearence...there's a hole in the cd player position...and when i park the car...i detach the face and flip the cup holder lid in front of the head unit. That way...a wandering thief thinks i have absolutely nothing in there.
Well, one guy said he'll take it for 11.5K....and today...some guy and his pops want to take it to honda and have them give a price for it. I tried reasoning with them that they will rape me with prices since they have "dealer values". But the dad didn't seem to care about blue book values. He kept insisting that we take it to honda because they will know the value. I dunno..maybe he's afraid of mechanical defects too. I guess it's a good idea for me to pick which honda to go to right?? Since maybe they can take it to one where they have acquintanences and try to argue a lower price.
I know nobody will buy @ $13K...but i was hoping to get at least 12K
Sorry to make this so long. It's just that I want to sell my car (at a fair price) and get my EG and h22 swap from ImportReview. Thanks guys.

I'm with redteg1. With the economy so messed up as it is now, it is probably not the best time to be selling a car anyway. And all the new car dealers are offering such low intrest rates, its almost better to get a new car then one as new as yours. Besides, if you have a pretty fair amount of equity in your car, you will be able to buy an EG in cash and have some left over to do mods.

That's a little less than I would ask for my ex and it's a 2000 model. Take the 11.5K it's the best offer you will get IMO.

Take it this way. I bought my 98 EX w/34k miles for $10,800, including CD changer. This was off a dealer, so you know he marked it up a little. And this about a year ago too. Granted this was a good deal at the time, since all the EX's I've looked at were going for $11-13k.
I would just wait it out. You might find someone willing to pay $13k.
