Default alternotor belt?

I got a 94 coupe and the cheapest alternator belt for it is like 20 bucks. a friend of mines, which lives like 40 miles away has a extra belt from a 90 civic, and i was just wondering if the width of the belt are the same, i dont want to drive up there and do the whole process and have it not work.. well whater i can do to save 20 bucks i guess. thanks
