Default Alternative to Hood Pins?

I can't think of anything, but my carbon fiber hood vibrates a lot at high speeds which makes me uncomfortable.. I know that the latch is still holding it down, but i've known a few people who have had their hoods open on them.. not a fun deal at all. The only problem is I don't like the look of hood pins.. I am all about a 'race look' but I just like the flow if the front end without them.. I'd rather run around with a fully gutted car then put hood pins on. Just wondering if anyone has come up with anything that isn't so visable? maybe if I paint the pins black, it won't be that noticable.. Anyone have any pictures of black hood pins installed? Thanks!

You could have the pins anodized.

But, I suggest hood locks. they mount flush and LOCK your hood closed. keep a spare key in your wallet though.

There are clamps that look a little cleaner. I don't have a picture off hand, but you drill thru the hood and they clamp on your hood. It pretty much looks like you just have a dime glued to your hood. They don't requre a key, just a flathead or something like it to open. They're a smaller alternative to pins, but you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the hood from flying open, regardless of the look? Try your best to blend in the pins of clamps if you don't like them.

Would you rather your hood fly open and you lose a $400 hood, $200 windshield, and possibly damage your roof pillars?

Exactly.. I know I need to do something.. I know what you're talking about with those dime sized locks.. I've never seen them used just in a pair though. Every car I have seen them on they have them all the way around, which I definitly don't want. I don't think they would hold up nearly as well as hood pins just using two.

alternative - black duct tape.. haha.. no but really. if your hood is shaking, you should really look into hood pins. paint em black. but hood locks do sit flush. i had to put pins in too. aestheticly it's ugly , and i dont really like em, but safety first .. oh back to the subject on hand. sparco hood pins are the most low key IMO

how about these?

They are hood locks from JDMHondaParts.com. They allow the hood to lock, and they arent such an eyesore.

Only $39.00

I personally don't have a pick of them on a car, but I think HT user "egstreethatch" uses them for his front bumper on his white hatchback.

i have Mr. Gasket hoodlocks. i got them for $16 from keystone. i just painted the base black.

if you get anything other than hood pins, i would suggest leaving the latch on.

edit: removed pic

No offense and no flaming intended, but unless your car is black (which it may very well be) isn't having an unpainted CF hood already quite "visible" and "noticible"? I don't see how two small hoodpins will add much to that. I will never understand how people can be against installing hoodpins (which are IMO a necessary safety feature) on their CF hoods because of the fact that they will ruin the "look", when in reality, unpainted CF body parts were never intended to look "good" anyway.

Nice, I like that, it's subtle. My roommate has regular Sparco hoodpins that he painted black, don't notice them as much. Some company should manufacture black hood pins.

I understand.. First, I know I need something.. I just wanted to see if there was anything besides hoodpins.. if not, I WILL use them.. I KNOW I need them. second.. my car is black I just got the hood because they were on special, and I had two dents in my stock hood from when i bought it. So I figured that would work out perfectly.

I think we have a winner.. I like the way that is setup.. Are those things as strong as hood pins? I know they are a bit smaller..
