Are all OBD2 distributors the same for D16Y7?
Hi guys, quick question here... got a stock 2000 Civic DX, with the D16Y7 (no VTEC), and it's OBD2b.
It's not starting and I think it's the dizzy, but the thing is my friend has a 96 Civic DX, also D16Y7, but it's OBD2a as all 96-98 are. I want to test her dizzy on my car to make sure it's the part, for obvious reasons (so I don't buy a new one and waste my $$ if it's not the problem).
But, are all OBD2 dizzys interchangable, or do I specifically need a OBD2b one from a 99 or 00?
Thanks.

The plugs for the '96-'98 Civic distributors are different from the '99-'00 Civic distributors (excluding the '99-'00 HX & Si; which share the plug with the '96-'98 Civics). So yes, you'd need a '99-'00 D-series distributor.
