all motor B or tuRbo D
well the time has come to spend my bank roll on a power plant. and i have narrowed the choices down to 3 applications. if i go the all motor B series it will either be a B18C5, or B16B and im kinda favoring the B16B. if i chosse the turbo D, i am still researching the best motor for the application. these are the only varieties i am considering, so please don't post a reply about some other combination. the vehicle is a 2000 Dx HB.

gewt a d16y8 built up and swap it in, and turbo it. i just did a d16z6 in a 99 civic ex with an Fmax turbo kit very nice kit no modding needed and its ran greats 12psi daily so far cause the owner is a 16yr old kid and hes already lost control in it at 8psi. go with the y8 and build and turbo it.

I would go with turbo D, but if you want a b series I wouldn't go with the b16b. Spend a little extra and get the b18c5 if your going the all motor route.

All Motor B,
or
Turbo D
I like Turbo D, sounds like a rap singer
Turbo D will own a B series unless the DOHC is built.
A good build on a d series turbo can yield over 450 HP
You can extract over 280 WHP on a stock motor.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I have ran two turbo D series in my hatch and walked them both, HARD. I would not consider my engine to be "built" either. It uses all stock Honda internals and isn't even tuned at this point.
You can either spend your money turboing a d series, and get walked by all motor b series, or you can spend the money on making a nice b series setup. Either setup would be a blast to drive, but in my opinion, I would select the B series NA application hands down.

i'm biased, owning a d-series... gonna turbo it soon...
but if i had money, and i could spend it just like that... my ultimate setup would probably be a b-series...
my favorite at the moment is the d-series, factors being cost, price, and money

my vote is actaully h, but of your two, i would say b. also depends on how reliable u want. a b with bolt ons is going to me reliable than a stock d on 10pounds

good point. thats what Im doing. Getting the B18C Long block after the new year and spending about 4-6 months building it up to be nasty

Re: all motor B or tuRbo D (CivicSwapper)
I say do all motor B...only because bolt on's in a GSR will yield 13's in an EG hatch...whereas you gotta run 10psi at least on a D in an EG to get 13's...
Imagine that 10psi in an LS or in a GSR motor
If you wanna go faster sooner, do turbo D. But if you want more potential...go with B series and then turbo that down the road.

d16 swap- 700-800 $$$$
Misc parts- 200-400 $$$$
Junkyard Turbo - 400-800$$$ (I have a manifold for a d series)
Hondtata- 300 or something right? Or name your own fuel managment.
B18c5 swap= 5000+ $$$$
for that you can build that d16 and support over 450 WHP</TD></TR></TABLE>
and then when you get MORE power hungry, you have no room to go further.... in the long run, its going to be costly, but a B series build up will be more beneficial.

Re: all motor B or tuRbo D (R_EG)
u could always do a "cheap" b16 swap and get a spoon stroker kit. sky high compression and more reliable than turbo. turbo on n/a motor=prrrooobbbllleeemmms

Re: all motor B or tuRbo D (Huggy Bear)
why get a B18c5 when you can use that money towards a LS turbo... I know a guy that ran 11.88's with stock internals w/ a nicely tuned LS turbo.
