Default For all the guys with No AC...how do you keep cool in the summer?

It is quite common for us with the EGs, EKs, del sols, and even integras, to not have AC due to various reasons like turbo, swap, or just for the hell of it.

However, I live in Texas, and it's not even June yet and it's already in the 100's!!!

I'm trying to source the parts I need to put back my AC, but in the mean time I need ways to keep cool! HELP!

So far, I already keep my windows down a bit, I have that crappy sunshade thing to block the sun, my windows are tinted, but it's still not enough! The Texas sun is killing me!

What do yall do to keep cool?
And also, where can I easily find an EG condensor? I bought one off an EK thinking it was interchangable, but boy was I wrong..

wear loose fitting natural color clothing, windows down. And deal with it.

You'd think with you living in Texas you'd already know how to stay cool.lol

I live near College Station, haven't had AC in my 00 ex coupe for about 9 years. Having the windows tinted to 5% really helps with the heat, noticable difference when I did that. Other than that, just have my windows down around 50% so you have some nice wind action and I've gotten used to it by now. Also have the sun roof open and close the shade about 90% of the way, so that not much sun will come in but you have free flowing air. I also completely removed all the carpet and filled in the entire car with something like dynamat, then replaced all the carpet/headliner. I'm assuming that having the foil layer really helps with blocking the heat (not 100% sure on this), I did it for sound reasons but I'm sure it works just like insulation.

Yea, **** leather in the summer. My friend's stupid Rsx in 101* was terrible. With tinted windows/AC on full blast.

Also, the color of your car plays a roll in it. My car in the sun in 60* weather will bake your *** if you leave it for a little while.

Icee's work too, I love summer, but not in my black Civic.

Heh, actually getting all my seats reupholstery with black leather.. so yea that's going to be fun!! Oh I found that stuff I used on my interior/trunk, it's called "Peel and Seal" from Lowe's and basically acts just like Dynamat but only about 1$ sqft. College Station isn't as hot as when I was living in San Antonio, but it's still pretty hot.. the closer you get to Houston the nastier it gets though. All that humidity will own you with no AC, if you're up around Austin or even in Dallas/Ft Worth.. I don't think it would be as bad.

It's 93 w/ 42% humidity and 19-26mph wind where I am atm.

My CX black vinyl seats are a treat in the summer. Love how they look though.

My old EG hatch didn't have AC. It was okay during the winter but unbearable in late spring-summer because humidity in NC sucks ***!!!

put the fans all the way on cold, blast the fans let that hot air escape, windows all the way down, and going 80+mph everywhere you go.. its a wind tunnel

When I bought my black 87 civic it had a mini fan installed on the dash that runs with the cigarette lighter. I barely used it. Tinted the windows and moon roof...made a huge difference.

good luck

Windows alone aren't really going to cut it in 100 degree Texas heat.

I used to put the windows down and use a spray bottle but that gets old pumping the water on yourself so I got one of those bug sprayers at walmart (smallest one they had) and wrote on it in marker WATER ONLY. Then you pump it up and spray yourself w/ that and the wind gets all cold. Beats roasting. Works good for camping and hiking in the heat too. Or riding your motorcycle, just put it in your backpack.

If you really want to get crazy get a DC/AC inverter to plug in your cigarette lighter and run a big fan so your always able to cool offl even at slow speeds. 400 watts or higher recommended though.

Then you can plug in your laptop or whatever in the winter too.

That strategy said sounds like a good idea
As for myself...heck, I just keep a small insulated cooler in front of the passenger seat and keep it full of ice and water bottles and take a drink when I need it
^^

I'm not 100% sure if the Peel and Seal acts like a randiant barrier but the foil layer may help. Use it for sound dampening, have the complete inside covered along with the roof and trunk (3layers in trunk). My car doesn't seem that hot inside and like I said i'm just north of Houston in College Station, so the humidity is pretty bad around here. Having 5% tint on the back, 2 small side windows and sun roof really helps as well. Driving 65-70, with windows cracked and sun roof open (visor shut 90%) on a 100 degree day.. I'd say it's maybe 70-75ish inside my car. Which is comfortable to me, considering I only run my AC inside the house at 76.
