All Civic Owners with Eibach Pro-Kit please read!!
I'm having a uneven drop with the Pro-Kit. I lower my civic a month ago. But still uneven gap on each wheel. I just wanted to know if all the pro-kit drops are like that or there are some problems with my springs. I will list the gaps for the four wheels.
Front Driver side = 1.7 finger gap
Rear Driver side= 2 finger gap
Frotn Passenger side = 3 finger gap
Rear Passenger side 1.7 finger gap
Please let me know the gap for your civics...

I put my fingers into the gap between the fender and my tires. Thats the amount of space in between each wheel. If you look at the drop from side to side you can see the big difference because driver side front has only a little gap between the fender and tire but on passenger side there is a bigger gap.

Are you positive the springs were installed correctly, the longer springs on the front and shorter springs on the rear? I think Eibachsare supposed to be side specific also, but I don't think that would make as much of a difference in ride height. And this may be obvious and I'm not trying to insult anyones intelligence, but you are measuring on an even surface right? It would probably be more helpful if you measured actual ride height also. Try using a tape measure, and measure the middle on the fender to the ground on each fender, gives you a more accurate measure of your acutal lowering.

ya knw.. Ive always noticed that civics sit a little bit higher in the right front.. its wierd..
anyway, are you sure that the struts slid all the way down into the forks in front and the rear hats are on the springs properly? If this isnt the problem, Its probably the springs.

I had the Pro-Kit on my EG. It was exactly the same way as you described it. I always thought the reason why the passenger side front was higher than the driver side front was because the engine sits on the drivers side which adds more weight to that side.

Re: All Civic Owners with Eibach Pro-Kit please read!! (97 CIVIC EX)
hey. i had the same problem when i installed my eibach pro kit as well. the reason why it's like that, is because the ends of the springs have to go into the deepest portion of the shock's resting plate at the bottom of the shock. my car was lapsided too until i took off the wheel and realised that the spring wasn't aligned with that gap in the shock plate looking thing, where the spring sits. try that, should work no problems. hope this works.

did anyone with an 96 - 99 coupe use a spring compressor? did you need it or not. also did you get an alignment afterwards?

you need the compressor only to take off the stock springs, there's no way that you can avoid using it. you don't have to buy the spring compressor just go to your local auto shop, like pep boys or auto zone, and you buy it, they give you a used one. then after you done, return it for a full refund. to mount the pro kit, you don't really need the compressor, just another pair of hands. and as far as alignment goes, you don't need it. only if you're tempering with the lower control arm or the steering rod. hope this helps. enjoy the drop.

i've found in my car that the drivers side is lower than the passenger side, but the drop is equal between the front and rear tires

I have noticed that my 98 Civic sits somewhat a little higher on the right rear sometimes but I dont pay alot of attention to it. One time one of my friends said that it looked like one of my rear tires leaned out a little more than the other. That kinda worried me but he is the only one that said it and I dont have any weird tire wear so I try not to worry to much about it.

Re: All Civic Owners with Eibach Pro-Kit please read!! (97 CIVIC EX)
First off, in the rear your difference is only .3 "fingers". That's not a lot and once the springs settle or after a couple of hundred miles they should be pretty even.
The 1 finger gap difference in the front is a little unusual because now you 're talking at least 1/2" or more. Sounds like the front passenger is not sitting all the way down on the shock's spring perch. That's the only one I would take off and do over again or re-align it if you can. I 'd leave the others alone because 2 finger gap is what you 're supposed to have with the prokit. After a year or so or some auto-x racing, that will get closer to 1.5 fingers as everything settles even more.
I remember when I first had the H&R Sports installed (on the GSR) the gap was a little different on every corner and was bothering me a little. After a 3-4 auto-x racing events the gaps were pretty even all around. I now used to have a 3 finger gap all around. After 1.5yrs (12k mi.) and 2 full seasons of auto-x events (28-29 of them so far) it's 2 fingers in the front and 2.5 in the rear.

Re: All Civic Owners with Eibach Pro-Kit please read!! (97 CIVIC EX)
Today I took off the wheel to check out the problem. I didnt see anything wrong with my installation. Then I called up Eibach for help they told me to switch the left and right (spring and shock) to see if the problem still there or not. So thats what I did but the problem is still there, it prove to there is something wrong with my car. Because there is a half inch gap difference in the front. And quarter inch gap difference in the rear.
Hey livindalifeofVTEC, I guess me and you have the same problem with in the front with half inch gap difference.
Does anybody know how fix the gap difference problem? Let me know thanks....
