Airbags deployed, car won't start, PLEASE HELP
1997 Honda Civic EX 2 Door
The other day I hit and went up onto a curb on the side of the road, which surprisingly caused my airbags to deploy. Now the problem is the car will not start, you can hear the ignition trying to turn over, but it wont turn over. A friend said that it may be the srs module preventing the fuel pump from pumping any fuel once the bags have deployed. Any ideas to get the car to start again would be a great help.
Also, to replace the driver and passenger airbags, does anyone know how to get that done for as cheap as possible? I was going to buy the set of the driver and passenger airbags as well as the srs module from ebay to get them for really cheap (the dealer quoted me a very high price for them) and them have them installed by a mechanic/body shop friend, our usual mechanic refused to touch parts he didn't get on his own. Any suggestions would be cool.

Airbags are not cheap unless you get them for street price. Which is probably stolen, but you can try to see if some people are selling it hard to come buy though.

probably shouldn't cut corners on your safety equipment. this sounds like a job for a dealer, although parts can be had on the internet for super cheap.
have you reset the ecu? if your fuel pump isn't priming when you turn the key, you'll notice the sound (or lack there of).
your insurance should cover this anyhow.

That is one of the many lovely features of the SRS Unit Assy. Time for a new one.
77960-S04-N81 List is $384.74. Along with your airbags. Just all of this alone not to mention if there is anything problematic with your suspension depending on where you hit, they may total the car.

Your civic has 3 sensors in the front and 3 in the rear. If any front or rear 2 are triggered, your airbags will deploy.
You must have hit what ever you hit hard enough to knock 2 sensors. You obviously hit more than a curb.
To fix this,
Your best bet is to get an SRS ITR/CTR wheel from a site like passwordjdm or jdmshit. That will get you a new bag, and a nicer wheel for much less than the bags.
New bags from honda are 1,300 each I believe. And its true, almost any smart mechanic will not touch anything they dont buy, if at all, when it comes to airbags. Liability and risk is way to high.
If you were to do this yourself, Id say call every junkyard possible and look for a 96-00 civic that was wrecked, but no poped bags. Get the driver + passenger and new SRS unit. No matter what you do, its gonna cost a penny+
Ifyou wanna be real cheap about it, just get the SRS modual and pull out the bulb in your dash on the srs light. Problem solved, but you wont have any bags

The 3 airbag parts, the driver and passenger airbags and the module, are almost $1500 new. I was able to find a place to buy the 3 of them for under $300. Now the only problem is finding someone who knows what theyre doing and is willing to put in Internet-bought parts.

Well that part is listed for ALL 98-00 Civic's. The part number I quoted you for is listed for ALL 96-97 Civic's. I assume the part numbers would be different for a reason. Not quite sure. You can drop the 0-M3 from the part number.
