Default Air Conditioning Qs

I have a 92 Civic Si which has AC installed. Im having some problems with my car right now and need to extra cash. I have a friend that is interested in buying the AC unit. I have a few questions....

1) how much does a used AC unit cost?
2) How much, if any, power will I gain?
3) How much wieght will I get rid of?
4) Is it worth it? I havent really used the AC because I like to have the windows and sun roof open. I'm also moving to Seattle where it rains all the time.

All comments and answers are appreciated.

Thanks y'all

Usually $100-$200

2) How much, if any, power will I gain?

nothing since there is negligible parasitic drag when the a/c system is off. Who races with the a/c on anyway?

3) How much wieght will I get rid of?

about 25 lbs. The heaviest part is the compressor. The rest is primarily made of plastic and aluminum.

4) Is it worth it? I havent really used the AC because I like to have the windows and sun roof open. I'm also moving to Seattle where it rains all the time.

I live in Seattle and A/C is nice in the summer but not necessary. Sounds like you don't mind getting rid of it since you like the windows down anyway. If you are **** and want to get every ounce off the car for the pseudo racing effect, go ahead. If you want to be practical, keep it on the car.

Don't forget about de-fogging your windows. AC helps tremendously when it's raining and you have your windows closed and you can't see chit.

Brand new a/c systems will run probably about 1000 to 1400 from the dealer.
