Re: AHH CLICKING TAPPING NOISE!!! (NotAvailable)
Valve adjustment time, take a search for it, its a fairly easy procedure.
Detonation wouldnt happen at idle, and when driving it would be fairly obvious. If the valves where hitting the piston your valves either would have bent away from the piston and gone silent, or they would have wiped the whole engine and you would know it.

you probably spun a rod bearing, and f ed your crank. that awesome sound could easily be a connecting rod giving your crank the hardcore dryhump. like people on e at a rave

go get yourself a valve lash tool. open up your valve cover and check all the clearance on all intake rocker arms and exaust rocker arms. i'll post up a picture with spec and instructions in a bit.
sears sells craftmen lifetime warranty bent valve lash adjusting tool for umm 8-10 bucks.

Here are directions and some pictures for a SOHC motor. A B-series motor is similar just takes a more special wrench I believe to remove the nut that is sitting on top of the rocker arm. Tell me if anyone needs the B-series version. Hope this help. Good luck.

Yes, But if its after 1000 miles might be user error. Was the motor broken in correctly, using the correct octane?

maybe your valves are hitting the pistons. or maybe you have a buildup of stuff in your engine. either way that doesnt sound good. id take off the cylinder head and check it out.

Yes 91 Octane
I finally hit Vtec once as the break in procedure was complete.
After that, this was when the problem occurred, the noise appeared.

Re: AHH CLICKING TAPPING NOISE!!! (Luserkid)
if the noise came on all at once, and its really loud. you need to do a bottom end job. spinning a rod bearing, often chews the crank a little, and you have some fairly large peices of metal in your crank case. metal shavings will toast the rest of your motor before you hit 10k miles. a stupid case of denial will cost you a new block and internals.

remachined or replaced crank, replacing damaged rods, new rod and crank bearings, new rings, honed or resleaved cylinders. its important to check the clearance in between the rods and crank to choose the right size of bearings. and the same goes for your rings. you may have just had a faulty bearing though
