Default Aggravated :-/

Went back to a local speed shop to infer about a GSR or B16 swap. Ive told ya

guys the prices before ($2500 for B16, $3500 for GSR, this includes installation).

The thing he told me tho, is that he doesnt guarentee how much mileage is on the

engine! In fact, he doesnt even know himself! He did say that he will make sure it

runs well and will only get a running engine back to me. Bleh, anyone in the New

England area doin swaps and are reliable? Thx in advance

most engines you don't know how many miles are on it anyway. since they're already out of the car, but if he can guarantee the condition of the engine and provide a warranty, that would be a-ok. i duno alot of shops that do that though, go somewhere else if in doubt.

nobody knows the mileage from JDM engines. They assume 30 thousand km, but nobody knows for sure, or can even make a good guess. He's doing the right thing by not guarnteeing anything he has no control over.

I have a lot of trouble really believing nearly every enigine only has between 30-35K miles, so your getting lied to most of the time...want to know the real mileage...go to the salvage yard and pick your own.

You can buy a USDM from a yard with papers and traceability, but you will pay for it. JDM is cheaper, but you sacrifice knowing the exact mileage.

How does he define "runs well"? That could be subjective, and subjective is dangerous.

Thx for the help guys. Just spoke to my dad, he says he can either 1) go to a junk

yard and get me a B16 from a Civic SI (USDM), which Id love to do (He'd also do

this for a GSR), or buy a parts car. He has friends who go to dealer auctions

constantly, so he could have em buy a beat up 94+ GSR or badly damaged SI and

we could strip the bastard for all its parts! But what if a automatic GSR comes up,

would the stock ECU work on my 5 spd transmission? I dont think it would, but I

want to make sure for arguments sake. Thx guys

But what if a automatic GSR comes up,
autos were not avail. in GSRS, only in GS/LS formats.

Oh, well how about an auto Civic SI? Would the stock ECU work on my manual

tranny?
