aftermarket gauge illumination wire tap?
Hello all.
1995 civic EX coupe manual trans
I got a gauge pod and a volt meter and I'm not sure which wire to tap into for my illumination for the gauge. Which port in the fuse box is the appropriate one?

I know for a fact that you have the service manual. Why do you refuse to use it?
The diagram below is found in your service manual and answers your question. Do you see it?

I don't have a FSM. But thank you. Its been a couple years since I did this to my integra.

If your computer crashed, then you would not be able to post, which is fine by me. If you don't cease with the non-sense, I'll have you placed into a very special user group. Do we have an understanding?

Re: aftermarket gauge illumination wire tap?
I believe the photo you posted is the wrong one. It shows where to tap into for power to the gauge itself, which I already knew, but after looking closely 3 times I cannot see where the illumination wire is. I need a wire that gets hot with the parking lamps/headlamps so that I can run the gauge illumination to that wire. Sorry for the confusion. I cannot remember where it was in my integra, which I believe has the same or very similar fuse box, and my computer doesn't have the FSM any more. If you know where I could download a FSM that would be great. So far it looks like I may have to torrent one but I don't wanna do anything illegal here lol

It's correct - 92-95 Civic FSM
If you are looking at the diagram, then you are also looking at the answer but not seeing it. Throw some inteliigent guesses at me.
The link I PM'd you has a direct download for the FSM.

Re: aftermarket gauge illumination wire tap?
Maybe I'm just dumb but if this diagram shows the illumination HOT port, I'm not seeing it or it's disguised. My best guess is C913. Its none of the OPTIONs, none of the windows/moonroof ports, and its not the ignition switch, so that leaves C913. I'll look into the FSM you linked me thanks.

Re: aftermarket gauge illumination wire tap?
According to my manual the dash lights are controlled by port 19. That's good to know. Now in order to achieve the results I'm looking for I need to either
A) tie the hot illumination wire around one leg of the fuse in slot 19 (ghetto rig) or
B) get a fuse block splitter thingy and insert it into slot 19 with the fuse and run the wire off there.
Correct?

Re: aftermarket gauge illumination wire tap?
RonJ, it looks like a little more research has turned up that a dimmer switch wire could do the trick too! I believe the dimmer switch just pops out with a screwdriver, and my experience tells me there will be 3 wires, a hot (input) a ground and a variable hot (output), in your opinion is that a better option here to tap into or should I wire direct to the fuse block? Which would run cleaner in your opinion?
